I have a pretty awesome mom. We met up for breakfast on Saturday and she handed me a bag that contained this:
“They were on sale and I was concerned your stock might be getting low.” I guess it’s true that no matter how old you are your mom will always want to take care of you :). THANKS MOM! Of course my stock wasn’t getting low, but you can never have too many. #myfavorite
Adam and I got in all of our last minute Christmas shopping on Saturday afternoon. We didn’t really have a lot to buy since we made arrangements with almost everyone to skip gift exchanges this year. Instead we’ve come to agreements that we’ll either make charitable donations on behalf of certain family members and/or we’ll chip in on experiences we can share together.
For instance, Adam and I aren’t exchanging gifts with each other, instead we’re buying courtside seats to a Miami Heat game for that once-in-a-lifestime experience. My mom and I are going to NYC as our shared Christmas experience, and Adam and his dad will be flying out to California for a golf trip in spring 2016.
During our little shopping trip on Saturday I picked something up for myself – the Adrenaline GTS 16s!
Sports Authority was offering $20 off every $100 you spend and the Adrenalines are $119 so I was able to grab them for only $99! BTW, if you’re a fellow Adrenaline GTS runner check out the Brooks website because they have the 15s on sale for only $78 (plenty of color and size options still available).
As soon as I got home I laced up and took the new shoes for a spin around town. The wind was uncomfortably hard to run into on Saturday evening. The gusts were up to 31mph which isn’t terrible if they occur every once in a while, but I felt like the wind just never died down.
I ended up doing five miles but considered stopping several times during the first two. I knew once I hit the turn around I would feel like I was flying with the wind at my back – that thought was the only thing that kept me going! And I was right :). I ended that run on a total high!
Sunday I woke up with this absolute baby attached to me:
We didn’t have anything at all on the schedule for the day except to watch football – just the way I like it! Unfortunately, this is yet another year that it’s really hard to be a Dolphins fan. I love my boys, but I’m already looking forward to the off season when we find a new head coach and hopefully get a decent first round draft pick.
At halftime of the Dolphins game I went out for my run. I got in eight miles, almost all of which I was fighting the wind and a little bit of rain too. When I got home Adam said, “you know that wet dog smell that you’re always complaining about? I’m not saying you’re a wet dog but…” 😀 Oops!
A1A Half Marathon Training Week 4:
Tuesday: 4.17 miles easy/60 mins @ 14:24/mi
Thursday: Strength training
Saturday: 5 easy miles @ 14:42/mi – VERY WINDY
Sunday: 8 easy miles @ 14:32/mi – WINDY
Total: 17.17 miles
During the middle of the week I took a couple of extra rest days because one of my toes was hurting/felt inflamed. I have no idea what happened there, but it was very aggravating just to walk. With a few days of rest (and some new shoes) it’s feeling a-okay now. I will
fondly remember 2015 as the year where I constantly felt injured!
Now I’m really excited because it’s my last week of work for 2015 – after Wednesday I’m D-O-N-E! My dad is coming into town on Tuesday and next weekend I’ll be doing my runs in Central Park! SO HYPED FOR THIS WEEK! :).
What are you most looking forward to this week/before the end of 2015?
– NYC with my mom!
PS: I hate doing laundry. <-Just a random final thought that I needed to put out into the universe.
