In My Next Life

Bonjour! I can’t believe the long weekend is over already. If you’re reading this between the hours of 8:30 – 9:30am I am in the middle of my commute into the office and I’m probably grumpy about it. I love my job, but I love sleeping in more. That’s just the cold hard truth. Someone had to say it. #brave

In my next life I want to come back as a pampered house cat where it’s totally acceptable to sleep 17 hours a day and face zero consequences. Also, even the laziest cats have built in speed, so maybe I won’t be a marathon running cat, but I’ll be naturally fast and that’s something to look forward to!

A couple of things I’m pretty excited about today:

1. My mom has started watching The Mindy Project and she likes it! I told her to marathon the first three seasons so that she’s ready for new episodes on Sept. 15th. Speaking of Mindy, just one week until her new book comes out!

2. With the right angles, lighting, clothes and makeup my new hair looks great! I’m already discovering that some shirt colors just don’t mesh with the hair color. Also, I really really really can’t wait until I can get the ends a bit lighter. I have no idea why but my hair shows up a nice color in pictures but in real life it’s carmel-y which I have decided I don’t like… at all. Like 0.0%.

I do like the color it shows up in pictures, so at least I know once we get the color right I’ll be happy with it. Just twelve days to go until I can hop back over to the salon for another color treatment.

All I know is that I need to get my hair sorted out before Chicago. If I’m going to spend five million dollars on race pictures my hair better be the right color! 😉

Did you do anything special yesterday?
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
-I’m neither! I like sleep so much that I enjoy sleeping in and going to bed fairly early!

PS: CONGRATS to Kristen from Glitter & Dust on welcoming little Axel into the world! So happy for you!

I think your mom should slowllllly savor Mindy 🙂

Axel is really, really precious. I don’t think I’ve ever said these words before, but I can’t wait to hear Kristen’s story. I think she captured her pregnancy in such a captivating way. When most run bloggers get pregnant I skip over their pregnancy posts but I really enjoyed Kristen’s. She’s a great storyteller.

You ladies are making me cry! Thank you so much for being so supportive and caring through it all. XO

  2. September 8, 2015 / 8:18 am

I am the same. I like going to be early and sleeping in. And taking naps. On Saturday I laid down to take an hour nap and ended up sleeping for a full two hours and it was glorious!

That sounds wonderful! On Saturday I laid down to take a 2 hour nap and … slept through the night! Well, actually I woke up at 2:30am wide awake. Sigh! Thank goodness for the long weekend which allowed me to re-adjust my sleep schedule before today!

  3. September 8, 2015 / 11:00 am

I also like sleeping in. Too much.

I think your hair looks great! But of course, you need to be happy with it.

I’ve also been totally envious of my cats that they get to sleep all day and get taken care of all while having exactly zero responsibilities in life. How do I get that gig??

  4. September 8, 2015 / 11:14 am

    I really like your hair!
My favorite race temperature would be in the mid 40’s.
I am a morning person…I am so happy to change into pjs and go to bed EARLY!!

      Thanks so much!

Brrrr the 40s sound SO COLD. I would love for Chicago to have a low in the 50s and high in the 60s!

i love the deminsion in your hair now! i did ombre a while back and love it. so much less maintenance than normal highlights. I just got it re-done saturday. oh and I am so with you on not wanting to go to work nothing is worse than going back to work after a long weekend. is it friday afternoon yet

    • Kristina
      September 9, 2015 / 12:41 am

Thanks so much, Rachael! One of the reasons I wanted to go ombre is because it’s low maint. I love that you don’t have to worry about touching up your roots on a specific schedule!! I’m too lazy for that 🙂

  6. September 8, 2015 / 5:54 pm

I go through phases where I like to sleep in and then I’ll wake up early naturally a week later and be up for the entire day. These days though, I’m always exhausted!

  7. September 8, 2015 / 6:30 pm

Aw, I love your hair! But isn’t it the worst when you, don’t like the color and have to wait for an appointment?

  8. September 8, 2015 / 6:41 pm

I love sleeping in. And will do it every chance I get. This is part of why I’m so excited for fall temperatures..I can run in the middle of the day and feel great!

While it never really gets cold enough here in the afternoons for me to run in the middle of the day, I do love overcast days for that same reason! So wonderful!

  9. September 8, 2015 / 7:51 pm

I’m a mid day person for sure. I want to wake up naturally, maybe around 8, take my time getting ready, work from 10am-early afternoon, and be back in bed by 10pm. That would be the life.

      September 9, 2015 / 12:42 am

You wake up naturally at 8am? Dang!

I wake up naturally around 11:30am, haha

  10. September 8, 2015 / 10:25 pm

A colleague of mine went super blonde this year after being dirty blonde and had to go back like 3 times to get the perfect shade…and I could hardly tell the difference! But I know liking your hair is really important to how we feel & present ourselves. It takes some tweaking with dark hair, but I know you’ll get the color you like!

  11. September 8, 2015 / 10:53 pm

I have a hair appt in a few weeks and I really want to go super blonde but have heard so many horror stories lately and it’s so expensive to get the right shade, I’m a little hesitant. I kind of wish dying hair was my secret talent and I could do it at home! Your pictures look cute though, sorry you don’t like it in person!

    • Kristina
      September 9, 2015 / 12:44 am

      Thanks, Sam!

Hahah, I wish dying hair was my secret talent too! How nice would it be to just buy a $10 box at Walgreens and just be done with it?!

  12. September 9, 2015 / 12:12 am

Your hair looks shorter in this picture than I remember from your last blog post. The one thing I require from my hairdresser (she doesn’t even have to ask me) is that she leave me enough length so that I can still put it in a pony tail. I think it’s awesome forethought for you to be getting the hair done to perfection now instead of having to stress about it closer to the marathon!

    • Kristina
      September 9, 2015 / 12:45 am

I asked for a really choppy cut, so I think it looks different lengths depending on how it falls and the angle that I hold my head, haha.

I had the ponytail requirement too! My hair is just long enough to throw up in a low ponytail. I can’t do a high pony anymore, but that’s okay. As long as it’s all up and not on my neck I’m happy!

  13. September 12, 2015 / 9:39 am

Personally, I really do think the new hair color looks fab on you. You’ll be stylin’ in Chicago. 🙂 Thank you so much for acknowledging Axel’s birth, Kristina! That means a lot to me!!

  14. September 14, 2015 / 10:47 am

You are going to have awesome race pictures 🙂 Your hair looks great! Cant wait to see phase 2 🙂
