Yesterday I had a great run, an easy 5K that I breezed through on the treadmill (I just couldn’t deal with “feels like 100*” temps today).
The fact that I can say I breezed through a 5K kind of feels unreal because not that long ago 5Ks took every last ounce of energy I had. Whoooo for increased ENDURANCE!
Some fun news: my run coach has increased my mileage this week. No more two mile runs. My shortest run this week is 2.5 miles. Here’s a peek at my schedule:
Monday: XT – weightlifting
Tuesday: 3 miles (did 5K)
Wednesday: 3.5 miles
Thursday: 2. 5 miles
Friday: rest day
Saturday: 5 miles
Sunday: XT – swimming, walking or biking
While I enjoyed the two milers because they were short enough to allow me to focus on increasing my speed, I am happy to be doing most of my runs at 3 miles or above now since I don’t usually go to my happy place until I’m 1.5 miles into any run.
Speaking of happy places, my 27th birthday is just around the corner! My gift to myself? New running shoes OF COURSE (and some ice cream cake)!
Adam got us tickets to the JT and Jay-Z Legends of the Summer tour which is coming to Miami right after my birthday – I can’t wait!
Do you buy yourself a birthday gift? What do you get yourself or what are you hoping for?
Happy Birthday, Kristina! I hope you have the best one yet. I always let myself splurge on a little something for my b-day. This year, it was my bike. My fam paid for half as a present and I paid for the rest. Great gift!

Thank you 🙂 The bike will be the birthday gift that keeps on giving! It’s a gorgeous color and you look great on it!
Yay, higher mileage! That’s awesome :o) I always get myself a gift, too! Since taking up running, it’s way easier to decide what kind of gift to get haha. Happy birthday!!

Thank you! This is the first year that I’ve actually known what to tell people when they ask what I want: more running stuff!
