The only thing on my mind right now is, “will today be the day my doctor clears me to run?” Depending on what time you’re reading this post I may already be cleared as my appointment is at 8am. I sincerely hope tomorrow’s post is all about running, but today’s post is all about strength training.
Last night I was able to get my deadlift up to 5x185lbs!
You can watch the video here:
I almost didn’t post this video because I think my body looks like a snowman in it the way my shirt is hanging, but then I remembered this body is really strong. It can squat over 200lbs and can deadlift 185lbs now. So, I told myself “just post the video, it’s not a big deal” and then I hit the share button.
My warmup to 185lbs looked like this:
10 x 55lbs
10 x 55lbs (again)
10 x 105lbs
7 x 125lbs
7 x 145lbs
7 x 165lbs
5 x 185lbs
Getting that last rep at 185lbs wasn’t easy but I’m glad I did it. I actually didn’t even realize I did five reps until I watched the video back. I had only counted four reps in my head! Thank goodness I make Adam film me so I can see my form :).
I actually highly recommend having someone film you if you’re lifting weights that are heavy for you. The more weight you add the more you really want to make sure your form is good so you don’t injure yourself. Adam gives me feedback on my form but it always helps to see it for myself so I know if I need to make adjustments.
We deadlift outside and Cecil watches us through the door.
Seriously, what a good boy. Yesterday marked two weeks since his procedure which meant we could safely pick him up and hold him all we want again! As you might have guessed he got lots of hugs yesterday :).
We love this little cat.
I love Cecil and I love running. I am REALLY hoping that today is the day I go for my first run in months. February 19, 2017 was the last day that I did a long run before Exertional Compartment Syndrome took over my running life. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since my last long run. WOW. I would say time flies, but I actually feel like it’s been years.
I am extremely hopeful about today’s appointment because the last layer of skin has finally closed up. From my perspective it looks good and healed. Let’s pray my doctor agrees!
How’s your week going so far?
What’s the weather like where you are? We’re back in the 80s!
