It’s a Party in the USA ♫

Is this thing on?

Hi! It’s been a few days since my last post, but I was busy soaking in the sun, running and enjoying a nice long weekend from work. I hope you had a great long weekend too (if you’re in the states)!

To be fair, if we’re friends on Instagram then you know my long run over the weekend actually wasn’t that nice. I was supposed to run 10 miles on Sunday and I only made it seven before calling it a day. I just didn’t have it in me.

I feel guilty about cutting the run short, but nothing worth while was happening there. Plus it was so hot that my heart was beating out of my chest even at my easy run pace. Actually let’s call it run/walk pace because there were a few walk breaks. Weekly training recap coming tomorrow.

Other than the tough run on Sunday, I really enjoyed my three day weekend. Here’s a little day in the life vlog I shot yesterday! 🙂

Since it was the 4th Adam and I walked down to the beach to see the fireworks show – which was spectacular!

The show lasted a full 30 minutes and did not disappoint! I LOVE fireworks!

The crowds were intense though. Lots of smells, haha!

We decided next year we’re going to rent a hotel room on the beach and watch the show from our balcony. That way we’ll get to see the fireworks show while hopefully avoiding the smells coming out of trash cans that have been baking in 100*F weather all day. Plus you know, we’re not really into crowds. We’re more of the “stay home with our cat” type most of the time 🙂 haha!

How was your 4th of July? Did you see a big fireworks show?

(I’ll be back tomorrow with my weekly training recap!)

We saw a little bit of fireworks from home, nothing too exciting though, but there was no way we were going to the city to watch them! Even when we lived down the block from the harbor we didnt go over there. I agree, its not worth the crowds!

The sheer number of people at the beach was crazy. Even on foot there was too much traffic!

I felt so bad for people who drove in by car and didn’t realize how bad parking would be. While we were leaving there were people still stopped on the bridge waiting to get over to the beach. I can’t imagine how frustrating it must have been to have missed the entire fireworks show sitting in a car inching forward every few minutes!

We had a really great weekend seeing lots of friends/family and having lots of fun. The only downside was lots of driving, but that’s what happens when you live in the middle of nowhere. 🙂 We didn’t go to a fireworks show, but while we were driving home from dinner with a friend, there were about 4 different fireworks shows we could see from the road. Very neat! 🙂

I’m glad you had a great weekend with friends and family! That’s so nice that you still got to see fireworks! While we were walking home we could see fireworks going off all across different parts of the city, so cool to see!

Thank you for vlogging! I could watch/listen to you try out lip gloss all day. 🙂

Hah! Thank you and thank you for the best text this morning 🙂 Tell Chrissy to get ready for a Cecil video. I’ve been filming bits and pieces here and there for a very special video that I hope will be ready soon!

Oh my gosh! I will bookmark it. Jelly likes to watch Winter Birds on youtube. There is also Winter Birds II. Look it up, Cecil might like it!

I’m glad you had a nice long weekend! Our fireworks show was very long this year too, something like 20 minutes! But to be honest I got kind of bored halfway through. I just don’t love fireworks like I used to.

Sounds like a great weekend! I did not go see fireworks. I spent my night trying to convince Sydney that the world was not coming to an end and that she should, in fact, trying eating before Elly steals all of her food. Sydney just cuddled and shook and would go running wildly through the house every time a really loud firework went off. Haha… fun evening.

Since moving to Alaska I haven’t bothered with fireworks on the fourth of July. It’s too bright out to see them in all their stunning glory! That’s definitely something I miss living up here. It looks like yours were pretty spectacular.

Great holiday weekend. We hit our normal spot for fireworks and for some reason didn’t get quite the same view. Have to find a new spot next year. I bet fireworks on the beach would be awesome (minus the smells of course lol).

I need a better video editing software, any suggestions??

I have no shame in admitting that I spent my fourth of July at home with my cat. My husband was out off town all weekend so it was just me, the kitty, and a nice balance of running and netflix binging.

We did see some good fireworks. It was unusually chilly here for the 4th of July (barely 80 degrees) so I didn’t even get to go in my pool. Waaa! But it was still a good weekend which seemed to last a long time. Gotta love that kind!
My cat was quite interested in the the fireworks. She sat on the bed and watched them out the window!
