My week so far has been off to a BUSY start. Work has been a whirlwind, which is fine. I would rather the days go by fast than drag on. Yesterday was the four week anniversary of my surgery, and I definitely can tell progress is being made.
I can ride the bike, do squats, perform calf raises, go up and down stairs and do all kinds of things without even thinking about whether it will hurt or if I need to be careful. The things that I still can’t do are jump, walk more than 1/2 mile or run without feeling a lot of sensitivity in my shins or developing soreness afterwards.
Soon I’ll be able to do all of those things though. I truly believe that once I hit the six week mark I’ll be feeling almost back to normal. Until then I’ll just keep doing my PT, stretching, icing and making daily progress where and when I can.
The day I can run again will be a beautiful day though. I can’t wait. Have I mentioned that before? Maybe once or twice?
Running the Jingle Bell Jog 5K this December (just for fun) is definitely on my list. Also my best friend, Barbs, just started getting into distance running so we may also do a 5K together sometime over the next couple of months. She also wants to train for a half marathon which I’m pretty excited about! More about that here on the blog SOON!
