Just a Few Things On My Mind

Last night I had four miles on my schedule, but I ended up only doing two of them. I got home from work late and still had to file my taxes — nothing like slipping in under the deadline!

I’ll have plenty of time to make up the miles on the cruise later this week : ) Only two more work days to go!

On last year’s cruise we got to play with and then snorkel with the stingrays in Cozumel which was really cool — maybe we’ll do that again this year.

So, the other day I was looking through the keywords that drive traffic to my blog and got a little bummed out when I saw #2:

Last year I maxed out at 190lbs for the deadlift and then I put heavy lifting on pause to train for my first half marathon. I had hoped to meet my goal of deadlifting 200lbs by the end of 2013 but after the half in November I never got back into it.

I know there are lots of women out there who can lift heavy and run marathons at the same time, but I don’t think I’m one of them — either because I can’t or because I don’t want to be in a constant state of soreness.

These days the heaviest lift I do is the squat at 80lbs max (I used to squat 150lbs, sigh).

Oh well, I’ll get back to it at some point. Running is my true love, lifting is just my side piece.

Speaking of running and love, Adam and I finally picked a 5K to do. It takes place on Mother’s Day and the starting line is just a mile from where we live.Β In addition to the 5K there are shorter “Mommy and Me” races that day, so I’m getting Cecil ready.



Obviously, I am very good with photoshop.

    We saw a ton of rays at the beach after my race this past weekend. All the tourists were literally shouting “Oh my G-d!” over and over. It’s funny; I love the wildlife in Florida, but it never gets that kind of reaction from me haha.

      Haha, the only animals that get a crazy response from me are dolphins. I really want to do a swimming with dolphins experience!

    I get taxes done early otherwise I will forget when April comes.

    The cruise is going to be awesome, you two are going to have so much fun.

    The cruise will be so fun! Snorkeling with sting rays sounds a little intimidating to me lol That’s a lot weight! I agree when I was working on my speed the past few months I had to lighten on the weight training- some times it will leave me to sore and would impact my running schedule. I am back at now, but I don’t lift anything super heavy yet.

      Getting to pet and hold the stingrays was a little intimidating at first, but the instructors were really great about telling us how to do it safely. Swimming with them wasn’t intimidating at all since they keep to themselves unless you have food for them haha

    I’m so jealous that you are going on a cruise. I’ve never been on one even though I live in Florida. One of these days….

    I can’t imagine lifting 190 pounds! That is incredible. I also have trouble balancing running and lifting/crosstraining.

      Hi! You should definitely go one of these days! If you live near a port you can wait until a couple weeks out and the cruises are usually super cheap then. When we were booking ours I saw a 4-day caribbean cruise for only $170! When you consider that covers your stateroom, food and activities you can’t beat the price πŸ™‚
