Killer Circuit + Adam is a Thief

Yesterday was a Starbucks kind of day, but today is the best kind of day because it’s Friday!

My stomach wasn’t feeling well most of the afternoon so instead of going running after work I came home and did a workout from Carly Rowena’s new Get Gorgeous guide. It’s filled with 12 weeks of at-home workouts.

It’s kind of expensive for an e-Book ($46 USD), but I enjoy tons of free content from Carly’s YouTube and Instagram account every week, so I was glad to support her in this way. Plus the guide is almost 100 pages long and filled with lots of tips and workout routines to try so there is lots of value packed into the e-book.

Not gonna lie, after doing the warmup to last night’s routine I was pretty much like, “I can’t believe we haven’t even gotten to the workout yet!”

I did the Upper Body and the Lower Body workouts listed for week one. Between the warmup and the two workouts I was toast! The plan also includes an abs workout but I skipped that.

You can see the full Week 1 Upper Body workout here.

Carly recommends doing 20 reps x 3 sets for an intermediate workout and 30 reps x 4 sets for a hardcore workout. I did 20 x 3 for both the upper body and lower body exercise.

It’s actually just occurred to me that you’re probably supposed to only do each workout type by itself. Like upper body on Monday, lower body on Wednesday and abs on Friday or something… right? IDK! Who do you think I am, someone with a fitness blog?

Even though I skipped the abs workout I still wrapped things up with regular planks because that’s just my routine for ending a strength workout.

I usually do 3×60 or 3×90 seconds, but I was only able to hold the last one for 45 seconds last night… I’m telling you I was totally toast after Carly’s routine. I am sure some of you guys who do circuits all the time are laughing at me … but don’t laugh at me!

When I see a bunch of exercise moves all laid out on one piece of paper I get this insane feeling….like I have to go through all the moves as fast as possible. Does this happen to anyone else?

When I am doing my normal lifting routines this does not happen to me because I don’t have them written out on paper, they’re just all in my mind from years of doing them. However, seeing Carly’s routine written out made me feel like I was in a race to get everything done. I need to work on this!

Seeing this cat staring up at me while I was planking cracked me up. He does not give any f*cks.

Speaking of people who don’t give any clucks ?, let me tell you about this guy named Adam. He knows that I enjoy a nice piece of Dove chocolate to end my night every night, and yet on Tuesday I went to my candy dish and found it EMPTY.

Where are all of the chocolates? In Adam’s stomach!!!!

So on Wednesday he got home from work before me and told me to look around the house because he had put a surprise somewhere. I looked in the candy dish and I saw two little Dove dark chocolates.

Adam said he was walking through his office and saw a candy dish on someone’s desk with the Dove chocolates in it so he took two of them for me.

Unfortunately I do not like dark chocolate. I know, I have a fitness(ish) blog and I prefer milk chocolate over dark. I am probably going to get kicked out of the fit bloggers guild for admitting this.

Anyway, I ate one of the chocolates but expressed that it was not as good as my milk chocolate ones. Well, yesterday I decided to have my second dark chocolate but when I looked it was GONE!

Where is it? I suspect it’s inside Adam’s stomach although he has not expressly admitted to anything.

I’m pretty sure it went to the same place as my milk chocolates.

The moral of this story? Don’t leave anything chocolate around Adam unless you’re okay with it “disappearing” if you don’t appreciate it enough :).

Happy Friday!

Do you have to hide chocolates from your significant other?
Any exciting weekend plans?!

PS: Don’t forget I post on Sundays now, so if you have a few mins on Sunday morning drop-in and say hi!

I need to hide snacks from Rob for his own good. He can’t eat things like that in moderation so its better if he doesn’t know its in the house:) That workout sounds really tough!

Hahhaah another benefit of living with your coach. You’re keeping him on the right nutrition path by hiding the chocolates!

Funny story 🙂 We tend to share our treats at the same time. I do prefer milk chocolate over dark chocolate.

I go to bed before Adam. He waits until I go to bed and then eats all my chocolate! 😀

So #1 I also like milk chocolates over dark chocolates, #2 that cat definitely does not give any f*cks and #3 the Kayla Itsines workout plan provides 3 workouts per week and you space them out between M/W/F. The Friday one is optional, probably because you will feel dead by the time, lol. So maybe that is how this one is, too?

*gasp* As an RD are you allowed to admit out loud that you prefer milk chocolate? 😀

That’s so funny that the Friday one is optional! I definitely think of the abs workout as optional!

My boyfriend is pretty respectful for my chocolates. However, if I take too long to eat it he will make sure to remind me that the chocolate is there and that I haven’t eaten it. That’s very thoughtful of him.

Hahahaha that’s so funny! How thoughtful!!!

OMG! you make laugh! If one can’t admit to not liking dark chocolate… then I’m in trouble! I’m the runner who east cheesteaks and fries for lunch!

I’m sorry to hear the Adam ate your chocolates! at my house, we can’t leave chocolate out, Roger will eat it. Even if he has his giant chocolate dish full of chocolate.

Roger and Adam sound similar! One time Adam ate four glazed donuts in one night after I went to bed! He can’t help himself around sweets which cracks me up because people tend to think he’s super healthy. I’m like “just spend a night with him and then you’ll see!” 😀

It is so ironic you posted about circuits this week because I tried incorporating some burpee and mtn climbing circuits into my routine this week too! Omg, so I did 5×20 burpees the one day… but it wasn’t a lifting day, so it was fine. I mean, it was HARD, but I could do it. But on the day I lifted I could only do 5×15. Ugh. I used to be so good at circuits but whaddaya know… don’t use it and ya loose it!

Okay Adam needs to step up his freaking game and swing by the grocery store and buy you some freaking Dove Milk chocolates and treat you like the princess you are!!!!

OMG 5 x 20 burpees?!?!?!!?!? Nooooo! That sounds like torture! That’s 100 burpees!!!! Even 5 x 15 sounds so tough! I’m over here just happy when I can do 3 x 10 burpees with a big rest break in between sets!

I do sometimes have to hide food from Rick if I need it for baking or to bring to a party. He will plow through goodies so it’s best he not even know they are in the house.

Hahha Adam is exactly the same! You should see him around soft chocolate chip cookies. They are the true love of his life!

Hahaha!! I would have said the same thing Adam did about the chocolate. I love me a dark chocolate!!
