Yesterday was a Starbucks kind of day, but today is the best kind of day because it’s Friday!
My stomach wasn’t feeling well most of the afternoon so instead of going running after work I came home and did a workout from Carly Rowena’s new Get Gorgeous guide. It’s filled with 12 weeks of at-home workouts.
It’s kind of expensive for an e-Book ($46 USD), but I enjoy tons of free content from Carly’s YouTube and Instagram account every week, so I was glad to support her in this way. Plus the guide is almost 100 pages long and filled with lots of tips and workout routines to try so there is lots of value packed into the e-book.
Not gonna lie, after doing the warmup to last night’s routine I was pretty much like, “I can’t believe we haven’t even gotten to the workout yet!”
I did the Upper Body and the Lower Body workouts listed for week one. Between the warmup and the two workouts I was toast! The plan also includes an abs workout but I skipped that.
Carly recommends doing 20 reps x 3 sets for an intermediate workout and 30 reps x 4 sets for a hardcore workout. I did 20 x 3 for both the upper body and lower body exercise.
It’s actually just occurred to me that you’re probably supposed to only do each workout type by itself. Like upper body on Monday, lower body on Wednesday and abs on Friday or something… right? IDK! Who do you think I am, someone with a fitness blog?
Even though I skipped the abs workout I still wrapped things up with regular planks because that’s just my routine for ending a strength workout.
I usually do 3×60 or 3×90 seconds, but I was only able to hold the last one for 45 seconds last night… I’m telling you I was totally toast after Carly’s routine. I am sure some of you guys who do circuits all the time are laughing at me … but don’t laugh at me!
When I see a bunch of exercise moves all laid out on one piece of paper I get this insane feeling….like I have to go through all the moves as fast as possible. Does this happen to anyone else?
When I am doing my normal lifting routines this does not happen to me because I don’t have them written out on paper, they’re just all in my mind from years of doing them. However, seeing Carly’s routine written out made me feel like I was in a race to get everything done. I need to work on this!
Seeing this cat staring up at me while I was planking cracked me up. He does not give any f*cks.
Speaking of people who don’t give any clucks 🐥, let me tell you about this guy named Adam. He knows that I enjoy a nice piece of Dove chocolate to end my night every night, and yet on Tuesday I went to my candy dish and found it EMPTY.
Where are all of the chocolates? In Adam’s stomach!!!!
So on Wednesday he got home from work before me and told me to look around the house because he had put a surprise somewhere. I looked in the candy dish and I saw two little Dove dark chocolates.
Adam said he was walking through his office and saw a candy dish on someone’s desk with the Dove chocolates in it so he took two of them for me.
Unfortunately I do not like dark chocolate. I know, I have a fitness(ish) blog and I prefer milk chocolate over dark. I am probably going to get kicked out of the fit bloggers guild for admitting this.
Anyway, I ate one of the chocolates but expressed that it was not as good as my milk chocolate ones. Well, yesterday I decided to have my second dark chocolate but when I looked it was GONE!
Where is it? I suspect it’s inside Adam’s stomach although he has not expressly admitted to anything.
I’m pretty sure it went to the same place as my milk chocolates.
The moral of this story? Don’t leave anything chocolate around Adam unless you’re okay with it “disappearing” if you don’t appreciate it enough :).
Do you have to hide chocolates from your significant other?
Any exciting weekend plans?!
PS: Don’t forget I post on Sundays now, so if you have a few mins on Sunday morning drop-in and say hi!
