Learning Something New is a Process!

I’m typing this up at 12:25am so forgive me if I have more spelling and grammar mistakes than usual ?!

I filmed a Day in the Life vlog yesterday and I really wanted to share it with you today so I stayed up late to edit:

My idea to create a YouTube channel last year really spurred from a desire to learn video editing. Prior to creating my first video shared on this blog I had never even touched video editing software before.

I’m still very much a beginner but I am trying to keep an eye out for editing techniques other people do that I like so I can attempt to replicate the good stuff! 🙂 I’m sure a lot of the things I like are basics taught in film and editing classes but since I’m learning on my own the process is a little bit slow. I think there is some improvement though!

If you haven’t already subscribed to my YouTube channel, it would mean a lot to me if you did by clicking HERE :). I know it’s a silly thing to ask but I like creating videos and having more subscribers and Likes on videos helps me get more views through YouTube’s video surfacing algorithm.

Okay, enough video chat!

CONGRATS to everyone who ran the Boston marathon yesterday! You are all so inspiring and amazing! Can’t wait to hear all about it!

Happy Tuesday :).

Who else shed a tear watching Boston?!
Watching everyone cross the finish line is so emotional!

I see your Tahiti Island Dream chilling on your desk! 😉 I did cry watching Boston. Then I googled Meb’s 2014 finish and cried some more! Chrissy is always alllll over my groceries when I get home. It’s like he thinks I got him food or something. I think it is a little funny that Adam likes fruit tarts. He seems like such a manly man. I got Paul a slushie and sour patch kids on the way home from work yesterday. He ordered the slushie (on chemo right now and for some reason Slushies make his tummy feel better) but the sour patch kids were a surprise! I love the sound of cats crunching their dry food or treats. Paul and I want to make a sound machine of sounds from our cats. One sound would be dry food crunching. Another would be the sound of Jelly’s little tongue darting into his bedside water. Another would be Chrissy purring. Cats sneezing. Just sneeze after sneeze. Wouldn’t that be lovely to fall asleep to?

Hahaha Cecil is always all over everything. If it’s new to the house he needs to sniff it and preferably sit on it for a few minutes. (We don’t let him sit on the groceries, lol). I guess that’s pretty typical cat behavior though!

How sweet that you got Paul his favorites on the way home, such a good wife!

I love the sound of cats crunching their food too! For the last few years Cecil’s been on a pate only diet because he has a super sensitive stomach so I only get to hear it when I give him his dental treats (or his freeze dried chicken treats… sort of… they don’t really crunch too much).

    Subscribed 🙂

If you want to keep working on your video editing skills you might try seeing if there is a community college/lifetime learning class available in your area. I know my local community college offers short courses on Photoshop, etc. Another suggestion is to see if there is a relevant Lynda course you can take (lynda.com). I think you have to buy a subscription, but my employer provides a subscription to all staff members. Maybe yours does something similar? Or maybe you can convince them it is needed 🙂

      Thanks so much Heather!

After reading your comment I immediately searched Lynda.com for lessons – such a great idea! After I finish the course I’m currently doing I’m going to sign up! Thank you!!

    I just subscribed!!

Why are races so emotional? Whenever I see a photo of Meb from his finish last year, it brings tears to my eyes. Even though he didn’t win, he just showed how awesome of a human he really is. Boston is always SO emotional. I worry that when I run Colfax, I’m just going to be running the streets crying! Haha!

      Thank you!!!

Oh yes, I’m the exact same way with photos and videos of Meb from last year. I remember watching the video live and just streaming tears. He’s always so gracious. I love how he crosses and then immediately looks for another runner to congratulate or assist. I want to be more like him! When I cross a finish line I’m usually looking for a place to relax for a minute!
