Let’s Play 10 Questions!

Lauren @ Will Run for Boston nominated me for a Liebster Award last week and I thought it would be fun to participate!

It’s a great way for me to share a little bit more about myself that isn’t directly related to running, and I also get to nominate other bloggers to participate!

Here are the ten questions Lauren asked:

1. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV/in person?

Favorite sport to watch on TV is football — NFL not college. I love how each play is a puzzle, and I love guessing which play will be called next. I also love when it comes down to the fourth quarter and I can come up with a strategy that I think will help win us the game : ) I could definitely be an NFL coach!

Favorite sport to watch in person if basketball. This is an easy answer for anyone who lives in south Florida though. We have LeBron James and watching him in person is nothing short of watching an artist at work! I love the fast pace of NBA games and I get really into cheering and yelling when we’re at the arena.

From the opening game of the 2013 season -- we went to watch the team get their rings and hang the championship banner.

My lucky foam finger that I bring to all of the playoff games we go to — the team has yet to lose a game when I’m in the arena!

2. Pancakes, waffles or french toast?

Hands down, pancakes. I like them with just a little bit of butter and nothing else!

Overall though, I prefer bagels or toast.

3. Do you have any interesting nicknames?

None, at all. I wish I did!

When I was growing up some of my friends called me Kay, and then in high school I had a close friend whose name was also Christina, so she called me Stina.

Adam calls me baby, which I guess is sort of a nickname? But I bet I share that one with a lot of you!

4. What is your biggest running related goal?

To run a 50 mile ultra before I turn 30! Whooo!

5. Do you run before or after work?

I always run after work and before dinner. I’m not a morning person at all, so I have to get it done after work.

I also find that after sitting at a desk all day, running after work just feels so good.

6. What was your high school mascot?

A hurricane… we were the hurricanes!

I went to UCF in Orlando for my freshman/sophomore years and our mascot there was the Golden Knight. I finished up my BA and did my master’s at FAU in Boca Raton and our mascot is the burrowing owl. Hoot, hoot!

7. Have you ever lived in another country?

I was born in Seoul, Korea and lived there for three months until I came to the United States. I was adopted!

8. How many alarms do you set in the morning?

I set one alarm for 7:35AM but I always hit snooze two times : )

9. What are your top three pet peeves?

Numero uno is when people chew with their mouth open. I hate the smacking sound and obviously it is so gross to look at.

I’ll have to think about the other two…. number one stinks so much it’s all I can think about right now and it’s making me angry! haha

10. How do you feel about the new “Girl Meets World” show?

Cannot wait for the first episode!

The ten blogs I want to nominate consist of new and established bloggers that I really, really like:

Ali @ ABK Runs

Meg @Meg Go Run

Jodi @ 13.1 Miles to Disney (the only blogger I’ve met in person!)

Amy @ Run Write Hike

Karen @ Running Over the Hill

Jennifer @ The Final Forty

Lou @ Running Through China

Kim @ Day with KT

Kristin @ A Mom on the Run

Richard @ The Running Schlub

The questions for the nominated bloggers (and everyone else too!):

1. If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and who would you bring with you?

2. What was the name of your first pet, and how did you come up with it?

3. If you could run with any one person at your next race, who would it be and why?

4. If the fire alarm in your house goes off, which three things do you take with you as you run out of the house?

5. Where did you go on your honeymoon (or where did you go on your favorite vacation)?

6. What is your favorite beverage? Alcoholic or nonalcoholic.

7. What is your absolute favorite TV show of all time?

8. What is your favorite cross training activity?

9. Are you hoping to PR at any distances this year? Which ones?

10. If you had to give up one of your senses (hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, feeling) which would it be and why?

  1. The Running Schlub

Ok I have to split this into two comments. Great 10 q&a, very informative and great answers. I am a Miami Heat fan as well so please go to all the playoff games and bring the lucky foam finger.

Thank you so much for the nomination, that is awesome and totally unexpected. I appreciate it very much. Now to my own answers.

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

GO HEAT! 🙂 I think we’re pretty safe this round, but I’ll be bringing my lucky foam finger to round two, the ECF and the finals of course (because I KNOW we’ll make it!)

  2. The Running Schlub

    Here goes nothing:

    1.       If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and who would you bring with you?

    a.       I would probably go to Hawaii and I would definitely bring Mrs. Running Schlub

    2.       What was the name of your first pet, and how did you come up with it?
    a.       I wanted a Beagle since I was in grade school and always wanted to name him Buster for some reason.  Few years back Mrs. Running Schlub made it happen, pure bred beagle puppy and we named him Buster.  He is my running partner now.

    3.       If you could run with any one person at your next race, who would it be and why?
    a.       This one is happening in the next few weeks.  I would run with Mrs. Running Schlub.  We have two different speeds so we rarely have the opportunity to actually run together.  Well Pat Tillman we are running together and finishing together.  Why?? There is this overwhelming emotion when I see her cross the finish line, can’t explain it, just really gets to me.

    4.       If the fire alarm in your house goes off, which three things do you take with you as you run out of the house?
    a.       My job would be to grab the three kids, everything else could be replaced.

    5.       Where did you go on your honeymoon (or where did you go on your favorite vacation)?
    a.       Honeymoon will be coming up in July so time will tell.  My favorite vacation is always in Sedona, AZ.  So beautiful up there and TONS of outdoor things to keep you busy.

    6.       What is your favorite beverage? Alcoholic or nonalcoholic.
    a.       Soda is my weakness.  Now that I run I have really decreased the amount I drink but I could drink that all day every day.

    7.       What is your absolute favorite TV show of all time?
    a.       I’m going with The Walking Dead.  I really enjoy the show and do everything I can to not miss the first airing each week.

    8.       What is your favorite cross training activity?
    a.       Cycling.  I feel like I am so fast when I can knock out the same number of miles I just ran in half the time.  Plus it doesn’t wear on my body as much as running.

    9.       Are you hoping to PR at any distances this year?  Which ones?
    a.       Yes, I have a 5K in two weeks that I am hoping to PR.  Also, have my first ever 10K in three weeks so technically that will be a PR as well.  Then, I would really like to run my first ever half marathon in September which would be another PR.  I’m a PR machine lol.

    10.   If you had to give up one of your senses (hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, feeling) which would it be and why?
    a.       I’d give up smelling.  I think that would be an addition by subtraction situation.  I get bad allergies so I would hope that issue would be resolved plus I just think all the others are way too important to give up.

Thank you Kristina for the nomination and the opportunity to answer some questions.  They were great and really had me scratching my head and thinking through some of them.

  9. Kim

Oh – thank you for nominating me!
I have one friend who calls me Kimmer and when I was in HS the boys coach (who I ran with as often as the girls coach) called me Kimmy (I would only let a very select group of people ever use that name).
    You know I’m running a 50 in 3 weeks – I hope!!!

  10. Kristen @ Glitter and Dust

Wow, I learned a lot about you here, Kristina! You and I could definitely be NFL friends because I’m a freak when it comes to football. Do you ever play fantasy football? I don’t know how you run after work. The only thing I want to do after a long day is relax or go to happy hour. Haha. You probably feel the same way about those of us who run before the sun comes up. 🙂
