Marathon Training Update: 15 Miles!

15 miles. 24K. CHECK.
The run went about as perfectly as I could have hoped for!
In my training log to my coach I wrote, “I think I could have run another mile… but I was also happy to be done.”
I ended up running 13 miles on the treadmill and only 2 miles outdoors due to high temps. I was in a nice groove on the treadmill so I didn’t mind.
I quite literally felt like I was getting stronger as the run went on. Awesome feeling.
The playlist I put together may have helped. It’s not the kind you’d listen to while taking a child to pre-school, but it’s perfect if you need to borrow a bit of energy and ego from the artist! : )

When I woke up on Saturday my feet and hips were a bit sore. I’ve never had achy feet before. (Could have been because I wore my old sneakers, thinking the new ones might not be broken in enough for a long run yet).
I haven’t been sore the day after a long run in a while. It reminded me of how I would always wake up sore when I was training for my first half marathon.
The dull aches made me smile because I know my body is becoming stronger by taking on new running challenges! Someday 15 miles will feel like a breeze! (I hope!)
Before the run, I stopped into Marshall’s and Target to treat myself to a couple of new running things (hey, I’m in pre-birthday mode, remember? 😀 )
Cecil wasn’t impressed. In fact he seemed to really hate the socks!
I got everything you see for less than $35 which is AWESOME but man do I hate stores like Marshall’s. The disorganization is a killer!
A quick Cecil update: he’s been on his healthy eating plan (it’s a lifestyle change, not a diet! haha) for about a month now. He’s still not happy about it and lets me know frequently by meowing at the treat drawer.
I’ve tried to tell him the vet said he can only have 2 treats per day now, but he thinks I’m just being mean. Sigh. Being a parent is hard! haha
