Meet My Best Friend!
Today I thought I would do something a little different. My best friend, Barbara, and I decided to answer a set of questions and compare our answers!
Aside from my parents, B is the person closest to me who has known me the longest. We’ve been best friends since we were 15 years old (half of our lives)!
1. How did we meet?
Barbara: We met in high school in 10th grade. I think you were friends with a girl named Kansas or you knew her though a class?? I was friends with her too, and you were sat at our lunch table. I think I remember you having on this pink long sleeve shirt you had back then. You definitely had on an *NSYNC necklace and of course that caught my interest.
Kristina: We met the first day of sophomore year of high school. I transferred to the school that year and met a girl name Kansas who invited me to sit with her at lunch and you were there!
2. What was our first conversation about?
Barbara: I was always annoyed by people who used to say they were *NSYNC fans but really were not true fans. So I remember asking you if you liked *NSYNC and you said you did and it was clear to me that you were as big of a fan as I was, if not more. I remember we also talked about bands we didn’t like (those that did not measure up to *NSYNC) and about how we both liked Britney.
Kristina: I think when I was introducing myself to everyone at the lunch table I said a few things about myself, including the fact that I was a big *NSYNC fan. You were also a really big *NSYNC fan and I think you thought I was a fake fan. You immediately started quizzing me to test my real knowledge about the best music group ever.
I remember later on we once talked about how there were so many fake fans who pretended to love *NSYNC but really knew nothing about them … like who Joey’s dad was and at what age Lance had his first kiss. In hindsight they were probably great fans and we were stalkers.
3. What is your favorite memory of something we did in high school?
Barbara: HMMMM. This one is tough. There are so many good memories! HMMM. I think when we were extras in Stevie Brock’s All for Love music video! That was a unique experience and it was fun!
Kristina: This one is so tough because there are so many memories to choose from. Meeting Joey Fatone at a K-Mart in Orlando was definitely a highlight! Also, for some reason I keep thinking of the time we went to a big mall and bought expensive lip glosses at the Lancome counter :).
(Note: OMG I totally forgot about being in the All for Love music video. They played it on Nickelodeon!)
4. What is your favorite memory of something we did in college?
Barbara: College memory is also super tough. We did so much. I remember having a really great time when we first moved into Bay Vista. Good late night talks with your boy advice and the Justin Timberlake concert we went to! Fun times with the guys to Orlando, etc. All of our late night food runs!
Kristina: I honestly don’t know how to choose just one memory! My most distinct memory of our first year in Miami together was going for late night drives up and down Miami Beach for literally HOURS at at time. I think we would leave at like midnight and sometimes not get home until 4am and the whole time we would just be in your car driving. I think we only ever got out to walk on the beach one time!
All of the fun games of charades with our friends was great. Those nights were the best!
Oh and there’s also the night when I decided to combine too many pot brownies with drinking too much and I thought I was having a heart attack. Remember I called my mom at like 3am in hysterics? You and Adam tried to calm me down but I was really convinced I was going to die. That night did teach me a lesson. I don’t drink (except for the occasional glass of wine) and I don’t eat pot brownies anymore.
(Note: That first year we went to Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando with the guys was so much fun… and also terrifying.)
5. What do you hope we do someday in the future together?
Barbara: TRAVELING. Epic best friend travel trip to a fun location! OHHH totally bringing back memories of that time we randomly flew up on standby to DC that one weekend.
Remember how cold we were????? No sleep and literally freezing Florida girls in DC!
Kristina: I hope we watch Two Weeks Notice and Sweet Home Alabama like a million more times. I also hope that we launch a successful YouTube cooking show in which we combine our incredible sense of wit with the creation of good vegan dishes (since you are vegan). I also hope we run a marathon together (<<<this may come as a surprise to Barbara as she’s not a runner, but she plays a lot of tennis and could totally run a marathon).
(Note: Of course I remember the random DC trip! I still have my metro ticket because it has Obama on it since we flew in the weekend of his inauguration.)
That’s a wrap for today. I hope you have a great weekend!
GOOD LUCK TO RICHARD! HE’S RUNNING HIS FIRST 50K THIS WEEKEND!
