My First Official Throwback Thursday/I Can’t Believe I Wore That!

I don’t normally participate in Throwback Thursday, but yesterday my colleagues and I were talking about high school and I ended up digging out my old photo album.

(It’s so crazy that kids today won’t ever have physical photo albums! I used to spend so much time in the store picking out one with a pretty cover!)

So here my first ever true Throwback Thursday!

High school graduation:

unnamed (12)

(Yes, that’s a turkey on the wall. My late step-father was a hunter.)

OH MAN, I wish I had an explanation for this awful outfit but sadly I don’t.

unnamed (13)

A belt with my initial on it… OMG how embarrassing!

I thought this French Connection top was cool but really it was just advertising what I was doing.

unnamed (14)The John Deere hat? Don’t ask.

Aaaaaaand Cori before she became an awesome runner and cool blogger. This was our senior year of HS and we were temporarily dying part of our friend Andrea’s hair black to look like Xtina in the Dirrty video. I honestly cannot remember why though!

unnamed (11)

Oh, high school.

I have more awful outfit pictures I could share, but I’ll spare your eyeballs.

My ten year reunion is this fall! I won’t be going … I’ll save the fun for our 20 year reunion instead. I feel like I know what everyone is up to anyway thanks to Facebook.

Looking back at these pictures I just can’t help thinking “I WAS ONLY 17!!!!” Holy cow! So much has happened in the last 10+ years, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next 10… for instance, I wonder how many marathons I’ll run :D!

Please tell me you look back at your old photos and think, “what the heck was I wearing?!”

What was your HS graduation song?
– Mine was “Young” by Kenney Chesney.

♫ We were wanna be rebels who didn’t have a clue, with our rock n roll t-shirts and typically bad attitudes. Had no excuses for the things that we’d done, we were brave, we were crazy, we were mostly young.

Hahah this is great – I want to do this! Ooohh trucker hats… why did we ever think they were so cool. I’ll have my 10 year college reunion next summer… ekks!

More importantly, why did people think the song Trucker Hat by Bowling for Soup was any good? The mysteries of the early 2000s! haha

Lol. I am so old that I don’t remember my graduation song…
I am pretty sure I had a girl version of a mullet at some point! Parachute pants, with multiple pairs of socks and an armful of watches, of which maybe 2 worked.

I am pretty sure that belt buckle is an indicator of your future success as an ultra runner. You need to replace it with the Western States buckle!

      Parachute pants! Haha, that’s great!

I’ve secretly been wearing a watch to work that doesn’t work. The batter is fine, but the long arm has come unattached! It’s a really pretty watch though, haha.

That bird in the background of your first photo is pretty amazing!!

I think you and I might have graduated around the same time 🙂

Our song was “Seasons of Love” from RENT.

      I graduated in 2004!

That’s so cool that you had a RENT song. I voted against Kenney Chesney as I’m not a country girl at all, but the song is pretty good for a graduation song. My boyfriend’s graduation song was Vitamin C’s Graduation Song song, now that’s just awful! haha

I graduated in 2005. Oh the memories, being a teen in the early 2000s! Hard to believe that was almost 10 years ago now….

OMG that Vitamin C song. I remember that being really popular when I was in middle school – I think it came out in 1999ish. It was EVERYONE’S graduation song. I hated it.

Always fun to look back at old pictures and laugh at the outfits and the silly stuff we thought was cool. Great way to look at it, all the great things that have happened in the last ten years and how many more are going to happen in the next ten years.

It’s so strange to look at old pictures and vividly remember taking them. In the moment you don’t feel any different at all, but … I’m glad to be older and wiser now! haha

  5. Megan @ Meg Go Run

Omg, your outfit was sooooooooooooo early 2000s!!!! I should look for some HS photos of me, but most of them involve me being in musicals made up in make up and silly costumes!

I would LOVE to see those!

The outfit is embarrassingly early 2000s. All it really needs is a swap out of the small black purse for a Coach purse!

  6. Kristen @ Glitter and Dust

I just laughed out loud at the picture of you standing next to the turkey on the wall. That is QUITE the memorable picture. Haha. Loving the John Deer hat too! I was extremely self-conscious in high school and wore nothing but baggy clothes and sweatshirts. I wish I could go back and slap myself. My graduation song was “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac. Pretty anticlimactic.

We had THREE huge turkeys in the house. When my mother started coping after my step-father passed away one of the first things she did was take down two of the turkeys and move the third one into the back corner of the office lol.

Oh – I love the throwback picture!!! I don’t have many pictures from high school – just as well because I was never in style!
It seems like you have done a lot in the first 10 years out of high school – I’m sure the next 10 years will bring all kinds of great experiences!!!

I had that exact same French Connection top. Some of my fashion choices were cringe worthy too.

Great pictures! I always cringe looking back at mine. I’m pretty sure my HS graduation song was “Here’s to the night” in 2001.

Now I totally want to go back into my old High school photos! LOL…..love that outfit! I can remember a similar style I tried to pull off except my hat said “Yes” LOL!!! Our high school grad song was Cloud number 9 by Bryan Adams. 🙂

Cute photos! (No, really!) Thanks for sharing! Umm, I too rocked the fcuk logo t-shirts at one stage, along with other brands/names that I embarrassingly enough loved if they were written all over the item of clothing, Kookai and Morgan being some. Boo to my teenage self! Haha… Luckily all my photographic evidence is stored away and not on digital yet.
Didn’t have a HS graduation in London, but I remember on the last day, after getting our exam results, we all went straight to the pub where I proceeded to get totally trashed and even ended up at the emergency room for said drunkenness. Way to keep it classy hey?! 😛
