My Mom Made Me Do It

Last week I was feeling spendy!

It all kicked off with a spur-of-the-moment decision on Thursday to buy season tickets to see the Miami Dolphins! Adam and I have been talking about doing this for a couple of years now, and finally decided to just DO IT!

With Brady suspended, Tannehill will lead us to the top of the east this year!

Sun Life stadium is getting renovated this off-season so when September rolls around everything will by shiny and new – including our seats which have been ripped out and will be replaced with cushier seats! Yay!

After that big purchase I just seemed to be on a roll!

Remember that gold Kate Spade bracelet I bought last week? It arrived and it pairs so well with my new watch!

I like the bracelet so much that I decided to buy the matching Kate Spade Creme de la Creme bangle!

It was sold out on the Kate Spade site but available at Lord and Taylor!

I also got myself a new bag!

I’m not a Calvin Klein fan at all, but I liked this bag a lot (and I had two gift cards). It’s nude/beige so it will match with a lot of things.

The bag was originally priced $217 but I got it 10% off and then with my gift card I barely paid anything! It pays to stock pile gift cards I guess!

While my mom and I were in the mall we popped over to the Apple store to see the new watches:

There are very few things in this world more enticing to me than a new Apple gadget. I was totally kicking myself for switching over to the Galaxy earlier this year because you need an iPhone to make the watch work. I really wanted to take that white one home, and I was already feeling spendy so … it would have happened!

Maybe having the Galaxy was a blessing in disguise!

Let me tell you, my mom is such a bad influence on me! She was like, “yeah you have to get that creme de la creme bangle!” and “yeah, that bag is perfect!” and “what about this thing over here? and this one too?”

I’m not a Bath & Body Works girl at all, but thanks to my mom’s encouragement I walked out with a bag full of things made with their latest scent.

To be fair, this scent is AMAZING. Like seriously, go to your local B&BW and check this one out. I’m obsessed!

To cap off our spendy day, my mom and I booked a reservation at Ruth’s Chris for dinner! Mmmmm filet mignon! That’s heaven on a plate (sorry vegetarian friends)!

When we were waiting for the valet to bring the car around my mom was like, “Hey! Let’s take a selfie! WHERE DO I LOOK? WHY DO I LOOK DRUNK? I didn’t drink that much!”

She was cracking herself up! LOL

It’s a good thing I was driving 🙂 .

For those of you bored to tears, I’ll be back to running stuff tomorrow! I have to tell you all about the personal training plan Meg put together for me to keep the bursitis away from my hips for good!

Do you have that one person in your life who can get you in a super shopping mood? Best friend? Mom? Sister? Hubby?

Last non-running thing you treated yourself to? Usually I just like to spend all my money on Cecil ;).

Last splurge…hmmm. I bought a dress for my daughter’s eighth grade milestone. I probably could have worn something I already have, but…we girls were dress shopping…I justified it by it being a “little black dress”–a wardrobe essential, so I have been told!
Usually it is my hubby who is the bad influence…First world problems…
Glad you had fun with your mom!

I might be alone in this, but I really like shopping by myself. I mean, I like shopping with friends/sisters/cousins too, but shopping by myself is so relaxing. I only have to go to the stores that I want to go to AND no one gets mad when I try on the same shirt 3 times because I just can’t decide. I’ve been feeling really spendy lately, but so far I’ve managed to limit myself to just window shopping.

Also Kate Spade is my biggest weakness. I only own one of their bracelets, but you are making me want to pick up a couple more!

    • May 12, 2015 / 10:51 pm

Kate Spade is a weakness for me too, obviously! I love all of her accessories.

When I’m doing some serious clothes shopping I have to be alone too. I try everything on a million times and have to inspect myself from all angles! I can’t imagine having a friend tolerant enough to stick with me, although it sounds like maybe you and I could be good shopping buddies!

Oooh cushioned seats sounds nice! I gave up my Redskins tickets a few years back and mooch off my brothers tickets now 🙂 Your mom is a riot, this post gave me a mom is the same way “you should buy it”. I like your watch/bracelet combination – looks very delicate, the size is perfect. Ruth Chris…mmmmm.

    • May 12, 2015 / 10:52 pm

I can’t wait to feel the new seats with cushions – the old ones were killer!

I’m jealous that you guys have Alfred Morris. I wish he’d come back to Florida and play for the Dolphins, haha. He is the only guy from my alma mater to make it big in the NFL!

  4. May 12, 2015 / 10:24 am

Hahaha your mom is cracking me up, “WHY DO I LOOK DRUNK?!” ….story of my life.

The bangle is too cute, I want one now!

  5. May 12, 2015 / 10:32 am

What is with all the spending going on…lol jk…it’s nice to splurge here and there. I am really frugal so honestly can’t remember my last purchase, maybe a big greasy dinner with the family:)

  6. May 12, 2015 / 11:20 am

You and all your gift cards, lucky! 😀 I never get gift cards :((

I actually really like that bag, it looks amazing! And I am normally not a beige-fan. Now I want one too, haha! I actually really like Calvin Klein. Mostly their underwear and pj’s, but I also have this amazing leather jacket from CK.When it comes to bags though I am a Louis Vuitton girl at heart and will probably forever be (I swear, I’ve spent waay too much money on bags HAHA), but maybe I can give CK a chance :O I was thinking a new Marc Jacobs, but maybe Calvin Klein will be better. Would be fun with something new :3
(hello, my name is marie and i am a bag addict)

Hmmm, probably my dad haha! When we’re in New York I imagine we must seem quite scary from a strangers side. We just run around in the store and buy whatever we see. “Marie, does this look okay?” “YES, BUY IT”, “dad, this color or this?” “idk, buy both!” :’D We are the perfect “waste all your money” team xD
Ehm, I bought a jumpsuit for the summer a couple days ago. Online though, does that count? Online shopping is boring, I never know if things will fit or if I’ll like the fabric xD Other than that.. uhm.. a muffin? :’)

    • May 12, 2015 / 10:56 pm

I only own one Louis and I got it as a gift! I can’t justify the price for LV. I always think, “I could buy like 5 coach purses for the price of this tiny little bag!” haha

You and your dad sound like you would make good shopping partners for me and my mom 😀

Shopping online for clothes is hard. I have a tape measurer sitting next to my keyboard so I can measure myself out before ordering anything!

  7. May 12, 2015 / 2:37 pm

You sure were feeling spendy! I am so glad you got season tickets. 🙂 I am a firm believer that you should never feel bad spending your money on EXPERIENCES. You will have so many great memories going to the games. 🙂

We are in the OPPOSITE of spendy mode… we are in what we call “super saver money mode”. Reason: Vacation is coming up and I want to live it up and not feel bad about it!

    • May 12, 2015 / 10:58 pm

I feel the same way about experiences!

Saving up for your big vacation will be beyond worth it! I saved up for months before our Paris/London trip last year to ensure that once we were there I could do and buy anything I wanted (within reason). There’s nothing like going on an awesome vacation only to have to hold back. It’s so much smarter to hold back before you go and then live it up on the trip!

      • May 14, 2015 / 9:04 am

Exactly! Whenever I want to buy something, even something as small as a coffee, I think to myself, “Wait until vacation… coffee will taste better on vacation!”

  8. May 12, 2015 / 3:19 pm

Oh man, I was doing exactly the same thing last week! It started with some purchases I actually needed – a suit for a job interview. But then I was like “I should get new shoes for the suit” and then of course, I felt like my old bag didn’t work with the new shoes and suit. And then while I was out shopping anyway I found the perfect shoes for my wedding… and so on… Now that I’ve seen my credit card statement I won’t be buying any non-essentials for the rest of the month. Oops.

    • May 12, 2015 / 10:59 pm

Well, the suit, shoes and bag sound like an investment in your career, so those were smart purchases!

The wedding shoes were a necessity so also a smart purchase! 🙂

  9. May 12, 2015 / 5:25 pm

I rarely treat myself with non running related things.. hmm I bought new shampoo.? haha and it was new good smelling kind. but besides that I’m all about buying stuff for my daughter. way more fun to dress her than me.
looove that purse though.!! I love the beige color. definitely goes with everything.
Your mom is too funny ;P

    • May 12, 2015 / 11:00 pm

Hey, good smelling shampoo is a treat! I always get really excited to crack open a new bottle of shampoo/conditioner/lotion/etc!

I can definitely see how shopping for your daughter would be a treat in itself! I know that I go a little crazy in the pet store and always come home with a toy or two or ten for Cecil 😉 haha

  10. May 12, 2015 / 5:57 pm

Lol! This cracked me up! I have shopping friends, but luckily for my wallet they moved away so we usually only do shopping sprees once a year or so when we get together. Shopping is so fun. 🙂

    • May 12, 2015 / 11:02 pm

I do all my shopping in spurts now! I go on these sprees and then I won’t buy anything new for months. I have no idea why. I used to LIVE for shopping and would spend all my free time at the mall. I still love the feel of a full carrier bag in my hands, haha ;).

  11. May 12, 2015 / 10:02 pm

OH – love the shopping spree!!! I haven’t done a huge shopping binge in awhile:)
One of my best shopping pals lives in Texas – we used to encourage each other to spend money all the time!!!

  12. May 12, 2015 / 11:37 pm

Oh wow! What a shopping spree! My mom has a way of bringing that out in me too. I can’t shop at all alone, like I hate it. But when she’s around, it’s like we go nuts! So much fun.

  13. May 13, 2015 / 1:21 pm

How awesome you have season tickets and it something you and Adam love together! The cut of your Miami shirt is too cute…how girly is that lol
I can get into shopping moods like that, but i haven’t done it in awhile. Its good for you every so often 🙂
Sounds like you and mom had a nice girls day!
