My New Glasses + Runner Survey

My new glasses came in already! I was able to pick them up after work and they are just as pretty as I remember.

The box they came in is beautiful, just the way I like my boxes to be! I work for an advertising agency so I really appreciate when brands take the time to create nice packaging.

The little carrying case for the glasses is really pretty too. The best part though? When I put the glasses on I can SEE! Honestly I didn’t realize how bad my vision was until I put these glasses on. Now I am seeing the world in HD!

Who knew you were supposed to be able to read street signs.

Okay, enough about my glasses, let’s talk running!

Yesterday Janae put up a runner survey on her blog and today I thought I’d play. Leave your answers in the comments below!!!!

1.  Would you rather go on a morning run to see the sunrise, or a night run to see the city lights?

I love watching the sunrise during a run! If somehow the sun could rise at night that would be great :). I just find it so impossible to get out of bed early for anything other than work.

Do you think I could find anyone to pay me to run?

2.  What indulgent food do you wish was on the ‘good for you’ list?

Tacos with an unlimited amount of sour cream!

3.  If you could wear one color of running shoe for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would definitely go for a bright color – a pretty purple would make my life!

4.  Split shorts:  good or bad?

Is this question asking if I would enjoy my shorts splitting during a run? Because I mean, who wouldn’t? It would be great to get some extra air flow going since it’s always so hot down here ;).

5.  How do you celebrate a good race or run?

For some reason the only thing that’s coming to mind for me is the time I got Chipotle after the Fort Lauderdale half in which I set a 20+ minute PR! I got double chicken with sour cream and guac. #heaven

Aside from Chipotle my favorite way to celebrate a good race/run is with an equally good nap!

6.  What song have you listened to most while running this year?

This year I’ve really been loving old school Jennifer Lopez. Love Don’t Cost a Thing is probably my most listened to song during runs!

7.  What time do you normally eat dinner each night?

Too Late O’Clock. Usually around 9pm.

I always go running after work, and then when I get home I need to shower and relax for a little bit before I start making dinner. This tends to result in me hangrily chopping up brussels sprouts around 9.

8.  Would you choose to get a free running tank and shorts or running shoes delivered to you right this second?

Free running tank! I have been wearing the same running tanks for the last 3 years I think. It’s time to slowly replace them.

I am impressed because many of my running tanks are just from Target and they have held up just as well as my tanks from UA and Brooks.

I don’t necessarily need to replace my tanks but I want a running wardrobe refresh :).

9.  Do you like spectators to be at the race you are running or not?

I think I’m weird in this respect, but I do not like spectators. I am perfectly okay with Adam not coming to most of my races. In fact I prefer it.

If it were possible I would love to run a race with zero spectators allowed. I get performance anxiety!

10.  What do you do with your key while you are running?  Do you usually drive somewhere to run or leave straight from your house?

When I am running in my neighborhood I don’t need to bring a key with me! Adam and I have a touchpad lock for our front door, and while my community is gated I can get in via a keypad. It’s so nice not having to carry my keys!

What about YOU? What food do you wish was healthy?

Cute glasses! And you know I love the sunrise runs. Thats so nice that you dont need a key when you run in your neighborhood! I usually put mine either in the pocket of my shorts/tights or hook it into my flip belt.

    Nice glasses Kristina!

I wish all source of sugars were “good” for me. In theory they are because they make me happy, haha. My most listened running song this year has been many, including a bunch of Latin music. And my way to celebrate a good race is with good food and surrounding myself by my loved ones.

That’s so nice that you don’t need a key! We are probably getting keypad locks for our new house and it will be so much nicer than having to carry keys around – I’m honestly surprised I have not lost mine yet. I don’t carry keys on my runs because our landlords have a hidden spare key near our door. But if it snows I need to remember to take my own keys because otherwise the hidden one will get buried or iced over and then I can’t find it!

My guilty pleasure food is taco dip and I really wish it was healthy because I could eat it for dinner almost every night of the week.

Good choice!!! I’ll second wishing taco dip was healthy because it’s my favorite party indulgence!!! Mmm!

I’m really sorry, but whenever somebody gets new glasses, I have to sing them this song!

When I update my glasses, I sing the song to Roger, he hates it.

You look great with Glasses on!!

Right now my favorite running son is Vaiven by Daddy Yankee, it’s the one song I’ve heard the most the last 3 months.

I really wish cheeseburgers were in the good food list! I love Cheeseburgers!! Tacos I ate no matter what.

OMG the wiggles! That’s a group of people I had almost forgotten from my babysitting days! Their Fruit Salad song used to pop into my head every time I had fruit salad! haha

  5. Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola

I love your new glasses! I could totally relate to your story about getting them. I started noticing my vision declining earlier this year. It got to the point where I had a constant headache, and I realized it went away when I wore my glasses. I’m actually thinking about getting a nicer pair of classes now that I wear them all the time (or maybe even contacts?). Is this what happens in your 30s?! 🙂

I wish pizza was healthy because I would eat it all the time. I sometimes make it healthier, but the reality is that it would never be healthy in the amount that I would want to eat!

Hope you guys have a good weekend. Maybe you can get some nice patio time in if the weather cooperates.

    1. Kristina

Thanks Sam! I say go for it with the glasses. If this is what 30 is like, let’s do it in style! Having a pair of glasses that I like and that suit my face has really helped me stay committed to wearing them over the last couple of days. I think I used to avoid my glasses for a lot of reasons, mostly that they always slipped down my nose, but also because I didn’t like the way I looked in them!

This was so funny: “This tends to result in me hangrily chopping up brussels sprouts around 9.”

You look very beautiful in your new glasses! Does Adam like them?

He does like them! Although he keeps calling me a nerd-o, which is totally fine because I am a nerd-o 🙂

  7. Schlub

Congrats on the new glasses, I’m sure the other drivers around FL appreciate your new HD vision lol.

Customary cold beer after a solid race. I have chipotle at least once a week so I wish that was healthy for me lol

I love your glasses 🙂 GREAT choice !! I ditched my contacts a few years ago and wear my glasses pretty much all the time………I do however still wear contacts for running and the gym. Sweating in glasses is no fun. And yep, love a sunrise on my morning runs, THE best.

    1. Kristina

Ohhh yes, luckily my eyesight isn’t bad enough that I would need to wear my glasses when running. My eye doctor said “I don’t think I could teach you to put in contacts” because my eyes close so fast, and they constantly wanted to shut throughout the exam! I was like ‘ah so sorry I don’t know why I can’t stop closing them!’

  9. Ali @ Hit the Ground Running

It really is so funny to put on glasses and SUDDENLY realize how bad your vision had gotten. I remember that feeling so well. Now that I’ve had LASIK, I get anxious when I see the eye doctor because I worry they’ll tell me my eyesight is going again and I’ll need new glasses. I am so glad to not have contacts/glasses anymore!
