My Weekend + The Start of a New Training Cycle
What a weekend! On Friday afternoon Adam and I drive over to Venice, FL which is clear across the state on the west coast. It’s a really pretty little city right on the gulf.
Friday night we went to see an NXT show (wrestling). We were supposed to meet up with my dad who lives nearby but in the end he wasn’t able to come. That was definitely a bummer but we still had a fun night and got to see the champ, Finn Bálor. The venue was really small, which is typical for NXT house shows, but the crowd was super into it which made it a lot of fun.
Saturday afternoon we made our way back home so that Adam could go see his teammates in their MMA fights that night. I didn’t go with him because I had a date with Jim, sometimes spelled as Gym 😉 .
I got in a good night of lifting and enjoyed having the place almost completely to myself (there was only one other person there)!
After the gym I made myself a delicious smoothie to sip while I watched the Heat game. I don’t know what button I hit on the TV but I watched the entire game dubbed over in Spanish. Afterwards I watched part of Independence Day in Spanish too. It’s a good thing I’ve seen Independence Day enough times to know exactly what’s being said without needing to know the language. Such a classic movie! haha
Yesterday Adam and I braved the storm and headed out to the Cowboys v. Dolphins game. It POURED out so badly that even my poncho wasn’t enough to keep me truly dry.
The rain was also FREEZING (temps dropped into the mid 70s!!!)! Adam and I ended up leaving early because we so badly wanted to change into warm, dry clothes – plus the Dolphins were playing poorly. I am sure all of you northerners reading this are laughing at what wimps we are! 😀 I don’t know how I’m going to handle New York next month!
Noticeably missing from this weekend was running. My only running plans included getting in about five miles on Sunday, but those weren’t mandatory. Mostly I wanted to strength train and ensure my legs were raring and ready to go today as I begin my new half marathon training cycle!
After almost two months off from a structured training plan I am beyond ready to get going! LET’S DO THIS!
