*New* Day in the Life: Cecil Got Sick

HAPPY FRIDAY! Yesterday I woke up at 6:30-ish and went downstairs to lay around on the couch until the sun rose. Cecil hadn’t been feeling well the night before and he was downstairs so I wanted to sit with him for a while.

The sun finally rose around 7am and I made myself a cup of coffee in my favorite mug (for sale in my little online shop here – makes a great holiday gift for any cat lovers you know).

A little later I finally decided to break out the smoothie ingredients and make a smoothie for breakfast. I didn’t include the sugar free coconut syrup because I still don’t know how much to use, but the smoothie was amazing anyway!

I included almond milk, a little OJ, mango, pineapple, peaches and 1/2 a banana. I think I’m going to try and start incorporating some spinach. I don’t generally like green smoothies but I want to train myself to like them.

I then cracked on with a bunch of work with my little assistant. C didn’t help much, he mostly slept but that’s okay because he was still feeling sick. He wasn’t eating (even treats) and he was super low energy (even for a 10 year old cat).

Adam was working from home yesterday too, so he took me out to lunch around 1pm. I wanted Chipotle but he wanted Chick-Fil-A and he won since he drove :). We generally say whoever drives can pick the place.

After we got home we tried to feed Cecil again but he was still uninterested in his food. He did eat two little treats but he took a long time to eat them. I could definitely tell his stomach was feeling sensitive.

During the day we got a delivery: a little rack to hold my dumbbells. It’s small but gets the job done since I only have 10, 15 and 25lbs. I really want to buy 20lb-ers soon.

Around 5pm I was feeling really stressed by Cecil’s total disinterest in food which is normally his favorite thing ever, so I called the vet. She said to either cook him a plain chicken breast or go to the store and buy him a rotisserie chicken and remove the skin.

The vet said to hand feed him the chicken to entice him to eat and that should make him feel better if he had just experienced a stomach ache the night before.

I didn’t have any chicken breast on hand so we walked to the grocery store to get him a rotisserie chicken.

We gave him some pieces of it and he ate… and then ate some more and started to really perk back up :). My heart felt so relieved to see him start to bounce back.

Towards the end of the day my new spin bike finally got delivered. Adam and I had to carry it up the stairs which was a mission. We eventually got it up and Adam had it setup within 30 minutes!

I’m honestly really happy with the bike. It feels sturdy, has adjustable knobs for everything and is compact enough that it works well in our small home gym.

I’ll have a full review as soon as I’ve had a chance to try it out properly tomorrow evening :). I’m looking forward to it!

After we got the spin bike together it was about 7:30pm. I made tacos for dinner and then we all settled in to watch football and relax.

I hope you are as excited for the weekend as I am. We don’t have anything particularly special planned but who doesn’t love a good Saturday sleep-in? Maybe I’ll try to get some Christmas shopping done this weekend too!

What’s on your agenda for the weekend?
What time do you normally wake up on weekdays?

So glad your spin bike came- I hope you love it! I had a similar weight rack for a long time (and still do) but its doesn’t look as sturdy as yours. Actually, I was the one who put it together and probably didnt do a great job. We got 35 lb weights recently and decided to get a better rack. But the bigger one doesn’t fit the small weights, so we really need both now!

That little weight wrack is deceptive – it’s super sturdy. I think it must weight about 40lbs or more!

Chicken and rice are the cute all for dogs too. Marcy dog was really sick after our move to Denver and not really eating & a the poops. One say of chicken and rice cured it.

Awww poor pup! Yeah my friend Sam told me she does chicken and rice for her dog too for calming an upset stomach. It worked like a charm, but as of today Cecil is feeling better yet constantly begging for more chicken! haha!

So glad Cecil enjoyed the chicken! Now he knows what he’s missing though 🙂

I love your home gym. We have plenty of room for one but I’m just not confident that I would use it. I have some small weights, kettlebells, a jump rope, and paralette bars (my gym was getting rid of their old ones) but they are all scattered across the house right now. I always wonder if I’d be better if I had a cool little space like yours.

He sure does! He feels better today but has still been standing in front of the fridge meowing his head off because he knows the rest of his chicken is in there. We’ve created a monster hahaha!

I like having a dedicated gym area. It makes me feel like I’m *going* go the gym 😀

I’m glad Cecil feels better! A couple years ago Bernie got sick. He literally didn’t move from his cat bed for over 24 hours so we took him to the animal hospital and apparently he had “bladder sludge”. You don’t wanna know how they, um, found it.

I hope Cecil is feeling better. I hate when one of my kitties is sick. It is so sweet he wanted to snuggle up with his mommy when he wasn’t feeling well. Did you eat the skin of the chicken? I would’ve. I freaking love chicken skin. 🙂 I never even thought about getting a weight rack! I should look into that. I hope you like your spin bike!!

He IS feeling better today, back to his old self 🙂 He thinks he deserves chicken every 5 minutes now though, he doesn’t understand that was just a yesterday thing haha!

I didn’t eat the skin. When I was a kid I looooved crispy chicken skin so much. I still love the smell but I can’t bring myself to eat something called skin. I mean it’s not just called skin it is skin. I wish I could just not think about it and go for it. I mean I’m able to forget chicken breast is like flesh in the moment when I need to…

The one we got came from Amazon, I think it was $30 and it’s super sturdy!

I am glad your little Cecil is feeling better! I hate when Macy is not feeling well! I am excited to hear how you like your spin bike! I am so happy with mine even though I haven’t ridden it a ton (waiting until I can’t ride outside anymore!).

Thanks Susan, I know you totally get the stress of a pet being sick. I would rather be sick than see Cecil sick because he can’t tell me what’s wrong or understand what I’m doing to try and make him feel better. At first when we put the chicken down he was just sniffing it but not eating it and I was like pleading with him to take a bite, trying to explain it would soak up the stomach acid – but of course he had no idea what I was talking about! hah

I looooove my spin bike! Adam and I both rode it today and are super pleased with it!
