News From the Vet About Cecil

HAPPY NEW YEAR’S DAY! I hope that you had a fun, safe night last night and that you’re feeling excited about 2018.

Sorry about missing a few posts last week. I planned to post when we were in Vegas but I forgot my laptop so instead I just tried to update my Insta stories a bunch. If we’re not friends on Instagram (@KristinaRunning) then expect a big post with all my vegas updates this week!

We got a phone call from Cecil’s vet while we were in Vegas – he’s going to be okay!!!!!!!!! The blood work shows that Cecil definitely has hyperthyroidism but that he definitely does not have diabetes or kidney disease.

He’s going to get started on pills to help control his thyroid this week, and then I’ll have to schedule him for a procedure that will cure him. It includes radioactive therapy so he’ll have to stay at the hospital for 2 nights since he’ll be radioactive, but then he’ll be totally cured and won’t even have to take pills!

I was so worried because the vet had told me there were three things that came to mind based on his symptoms and one of those was kidney disease. My first cat Leo was diagnosed with kidney disease when he was just 5 years old. He passed away at only 9 years old and those last 4 years were basically just us watching him slowly deteriorate. It was heart breaking and I was not feeling emotionally prepared to go through that again with Cecil.

I feel so relieved to know not only will Cecil be okay but also that he can be totally cured! <3

What’s one goal you’ve set for 2018?

SUCH A RELIEF! The vet said we might not get the results until Thursday, but they came in Wednesday morning. Getting that news right away helped make the rest of the trip fun since we didn’t have to worry anymore!

So glad you got good news about Cecil! I definitely want to be more organized in 2018. I had actually started this last year but I’m continuing it into the New Year!

Oh, so sorry about Cecil! I remember how devastated we were finding out we had to treat Macy for diabetes and arthritis. But we love her so we do it. Hugs to all of you xo
