Happy Monday! (I’m feeling happier than usual since this is my last Monday in the office until 2014, haha. I love my job but sometimes it’s good to have a break!)
Let’s see, what kind of running did I do this weekend? I was supposed to do 7 miles on Saturday but that got pushed back to Sunday.
I started my run around 7pm on Saturday night (as you can tell I get invited to a lot of cool events on Sat. nights), but when I got down to the bridge at the beach it was closed for a boat parade that lasted TWO HOURS. That should be illegal. Some people have runs to get done.
I watched some of the parade from the bridge since they were also shooting off fireworks that were really pretty. Unfortunately my phone is not capable of showing you how pretty they were. Instead you get this pink blob. Please use your imagination : )
Since I cannot possibly do a long run any place other than the beach I just turned around and ran home for a total of just over 2 miles.
I actually thought about running somewhere else but since it was already dark out my only (safe) choice besides the beach was to run on the city streets and the thought of stopping at every street corner for cars seemed too annoying for seven miles.
Sunday I got the seven miles in but not until after 10pm! What was I thinking going so late?!?!?!?! I guess that’s what I get for being lazy earlier in the afternoon.
Have you ever gone running outside that late at night? Safety wasn’t really a factor since the beach route is always crowded on Sat and Sun nights, but it still wasn’t my brightest idea!
You could say that going at 10pm shows dedication, but you could also say it shows that I was really lazy earlier in the day…maybe it was a little bit of both. : )
By the time I stretched, showered and calmed down it was already after midnight and I was HUNGRY. Talk about bad scheduling!
I am really happy that I got the run in though!
