Noticing New Things While Running
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
You may remember that I was having a hard time not spilling the beans on Adam’s gift. Unfortunately, I did not make it until today … I ended up telling him what it was on Wednesday night. As I was filling out his card I just got way too excited and had to give him his gift right then.
I got him tickets to the Miami Dolphins game in London! Going to London this year was already on a calendar and we talked about going to this game, but then found out that tickets went on sale earlier in January and were already sold out. I found tons of them on Stubhub UK though : )
Too bad the game is at the end of September… still so far away!
Last night I had a really good run. I had five miles on the calendar but decided that I would run 3 of those miles as a mock 5K. I know what I can do when I progressively increase my speed, but I wanted to see if the method of starting out fast in mile one would work for me or not. IT DID!
I ended up killing it on my run and felt really good.
When I first started out I decided to really focus on the run and nothing else. Normally I allow myself to zone out and just kind of go with the flow. By concentrating my focus 110% I noticed so many new things!
I could actually feel myself kick into faster gears… I knew when I was slowing down or speeding up (normally I don’t notice these things at all). It felt really cool. It sounds so corny but I really felt in tune with my body which helped me feel comfortable running at a faster pace.
It was a gorgeous night out too, which helped. The weather was in the low to mid 60s and the moon was big and bright : )
I’m really glad I ended the day with a great run because the morning started out not so good. When I went down to my car it wouldn’t turn on and I had to get a jump. It was really weird because I just bought a new battery at the end of December.
Pep Boys said the battery wasn’t dead but for some reason had a really low charge so they charged it up. Hopefully it’s all good now otherwise they think I may have an electrical problem … bleh.
After the car incident I ended up working from home. This cat is the laziest ever. He just spends all day in this position:
I should probably change the name of my blog to Kristina’s Blog About Running and Cats since I post about Cecil so much : )
Happy Friday / Happy Valentine’s Day!
