Pinterest and I have an on-again, off-again relationship. Some weeks I dedicate hours to scrolling through pins about running, cats and Mindy Kaling. They are my holy trinity after all. Other times I won’t even log into my Pinterest account for months on end.
This week Pinterest and I have had one of our famous reunions, and I’ve found lots of pins that have made me literally laugh out loud. Today I want to share a few of my faves with you! 🙂
This one represents exactly how I felt after my half marathon on Sunday:
It’s actually taken my body a few days to feel properly recovered which is why I haven’t written about running since Monday. Last year at this time a 13 mile easy run wasn’t a big deal at all and I would have been running the very next day.
I really think splitting up my long runs this summer as part of my marathon training plan wasn’t a great idea for me. Coupled with an injury on top of the split long runs and it feels like I’ve gotten worse this year rather than better. That stings a lot since I made huge strides in 2014 and I believed 2015 would be an incredible year of running for me. That’s all in the rear view mirror though, now it’s time to focus on what I can do during the remaining weeks of this year to set myself up for an exciting 2016!
Okay, things just got way more serious than I intended for them to be in this post so let’s move on! (I have a lot of ideas and feelings to flesh out about 2015 in general and I’ll write a “year in review” post sometime in December.)
This image represents what I think every time I go to the bathroom – which is A LOT because I’m always drinking water and always peeing!
Being a runner in hot and humid South Florida means taking hydration SUPER SERIOUSLY.
Is it sometimes embarrassing the amount of times I have to pee in a day? Sure, but when I first started running I used to get really tight calves within five minutes of starting each run. Once I started taking my daily hydration strategy more seriously that issue completely went away! (And by “daily hydration strategy” I just mean that I keep a big class of water next to me all day and I sip every 2 seconds*!)
*This might be an exaggeration 🙂
This image needs no introduction and no explanation:
Some days Adam and I both find ourselves hobbling around like two uncoordinated baby deer learning to walk for the first time. I think it’s kind of cute!
This picture isn’t fitness related, but I do love a good taco and can relate to how happy this bear is about eating them!
Finally, today I want to leave you with this thought. I actually saw this on Pinterest a few months ago and it really resonated with me.
Five different people could have five different interpretations of this saying. For me it’s a reminder to be the best version of myself so that good people want to be around me. I think if you’re negative you’ll inevitably kill other people’s joy. If you’re angry or jealous or hateful you’ll bond over hateful things with other people, and then the core of your relationship will be based on shared negative experiences/feelings. Not a great way to live.
I’m extremely reactionary which
sometimes means I’m either very happy about something or super upset by it. There is very little in-between for me. Luckily I think I’m also fairly self-aware so when I find myself complaining too much I remind myself that “water seeks it’s own level.” If I don’t want to be dragged down by other people complaining then I need to stop and try to find the positives in the situation.
I think this can be frustrating for others who interact with me. I’m sure it makes me look like a flip-flopper because I may complain for hours about something with you one day and the next day I’m telling you why I think everything is going to be more than okay – it’s going to be great! I understand that can be annoying, but hey, we’re all entitled to a change of mind right?! I mean, when I first heard of The Mindy Project my immediate reaction was to hate it. I have no idea why, but I’m glad I eventually gave it a try because it’s now my favorite show!
Anyway, there you have it, my most recent Pinterest experience in a nut shell!
