On-Again, Off-Again Relationship with Pinterest

Pinterest and I have an on-again, off-again relationship. Some weeks I dedicate hours to scrolling through pins about running, cats and Mindy Kaling. They are my holy trinity after all. Other times I won’t even log into my Pinterest account for months on end.

This week Pinterest and I have had one of our famous reunions, and I’ve found lots of pins that have made me literally laugh out loud. Today I want to share a few of my faves with you! 🙂

This one represents exactly how I felt after my half marathon on Sunday:

It’s actually taken my body a few days to feel properly recovered which is why I haven’t written about running since Monday. Last year at this time a 13 mile easy run wasn’t a big deal at all and I would have been running the very next day.

I really think splitting up my long runs this summer as part of my marathon training plan wasn’t a great idea for me. Coupled with an injury on top of the split long runs and it feels like I’ve gotten worse this year rather than better. That stings a lot since I made huge strides in 2014 and I believed 2015 would be an incredible year of running for me. That’s all in the rear view mirror though, now it’s time to focus on what I can do during the remaining weeks of this year to set myself up for an exciting 2016!

Okay, things just got way more serious than I intended for them to be in this post so let’s move on! (I have a lot of ideas and feelings to flesh out about 2015 in general and I’ll write a “year in review” post sometime in December.)

This image represents what I think every time I go to the bathroom – which is A LOT because I’m always drinking water and always peeing!

Being a runner in hot and humid South Florida means taking hydration SUPER SERIOUSLY.

Is it sometimes embarrassing the amount of times I have to pee in a day? Sure, but when I first started running I used to get really tight calves within five minutes of starting each run. Once I started taking my daily hydration strategy more seriously that issue completely went away! (And by “daily hydration strategy” I just mean that I keep a big class of water next to me all day and I sip every 2 seconds*!)

*This might be an exaggeration 🙂

This image needs no introduction and no explanation:

Some days Adam and I both find ourselves hobbling around like two uncoordinated baby deer learning to walk for the first time. I think it’s kind of cute!

This picture isn’t fitness related, but I do love a good taco and can relate to how happy this bear is about eating them!

Finally, today I want to leave you with this thought. I actually saw this on Pinterest a few months ago and it really resonated with me.

Five different people could have five different interpretations of this saying. For me it’s a reminder to be the best version of myself so that good people want to be around me. I think if you’re negative you’ll inevitably kill other people’s joy. If you’re angry or jealous or hateful you’ll bond over hateful things with other people, and then the core of your relationship will be based on shared negative experiences/feelings. Not a great way to live.

I’m extremely reactionary which sometimes means I’m either very happy about something or super upset by it. There is very little in-between for me. Luckily I think I’m also fairly self-aware so when I find myself complaining too much I remind myself that “water seeks it’s own level.” If I don’t want to be dragged down by other people complaining then I need to stop and try to find the positives in the situation.

I think this can be frustrating for others who interact with me. I’m sure it makes me look like a flip-flopper because I may complain for hours about something with you one day and the next day I’m telling you why I think everything is going to be more than okay – it’s going to be great! I understand that can be annoying, but hey, we’re all entitled to a change of mind right?! I mean, when I first heard of The Mindy Project my immediate reaction was to hate it. I have no idea why, but I’m glad I eventually gave it a try because it’s now my favorite show!

Anyway, there you have it, my most recent Pinterest experience in a nut shell!

Happy Anniversary! 11 years is such a long time! I love your pins… especially the taco one. I’m leaving tonight for Utah, and I’ll be camping the whole time. Hopefully I don’t encounter any bears who think I’m a taco. 🙂

Happy Anniversary!!!! 🙂 I am glad you and Adam found each other. I don’t really believe in soul mates either (touching on your post from yesterday) but if there was such a thing, Paul would be mine!

I don’t have Pinterest and I don’t really understand it. I think I have an account that I accidentally signed up for when I was trying to get some free teaching materials on someone’s board. I don’t use it. I also have a twitter account I don’t use because I don’t understand it!

Happy anniversary!! I don’t spend a lot of time just scrolling through Pinterest – with all of that time wasted scrolling through Facebook feeds, I just run out of time in my day!! I do use it heavily to keep track of recipes. I’ve got boards of stuff I want to try for dinner, crock pot dinners, freezer cooking dinners. Then after I make something and I like it, the recipe gets pinned to my “Recipe Successes” board so I can find them again! That’s what really irritates me – not being able to find a recipe that I liked a lot.

Congrats on the anniversary! Pinterest and I have a complicated relationship, I keep a bunch of hidden boards for hair inspiration and my stylist which makes it a really handy tool, but other than that it can just be a huge time suck for me. After a while everything starts to look the same so I do the same thing, take long breaks to refresh.

I only use pinterest to get awesome craft ideas for gifts for Mrs Schlub. I’ve rocked a couple really good ones and received mad brownie points lol.

Best version of myself is a great saying. I might have to blogger steal that lol.

I really only post to pintrest when I’m sharing a blog post (I might not be using it right huh?). I haven’t actually scrolled through to look at pins in a while. The last time I did that was when I was trying to find a 30 day challenge

  7. November 19, 2015 / 9:31 pm

I gave up on Pinterest after all the stuff happened with the copyrighted pictures issues…I just ended up giving up on it, and it’s too much of a time-sucker to get back into! I do love memes though…I tend to find them on tumblr more than pinterest 🙂

I know you may feel like 2015 ended up being a slump year, but it’s only been the last couple months that have been tough. I think overall, 2015 was great for you!

I say this tongue in cheek… never hang out with someone who is 100% upbeat. They probably have weed and you may go to jail with them lol
We can always change our mind 🙂
I have a love/hate with most forms of social media, sometimes I will go for weeks w/o scrolling through a time line…FB , maybe months.

I wish I could get into pinterest. I’ve used it a few times for school planning, but thats the extent of it. People seem to find the coolest stuff on there!
