Picking Paint Colors
Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time browsing through interior design blogs, with special attention paid to the Young House Love blog!
I think Sherry and John have done an amazing job renovating their current home. A lot of the color schemes they’ve incorporated into their home I’ll be using in my own.
At first I really wanted to do light grey walls with white trim and a lot of copper accents like this:
Then one morning it occurred to me that unless I wanted to re-do the flooring throughout both levels of the townhouse this color scheme just isn’t right for our new home.
I would love to have white marble floors but that’s just not the reality of what we will have on the day we move in. (I want to upgrade to them someday!) Instead we have really light, warm toned wood floors.
Since I’m working with these floors I had to come up with a new color scheme. I still want to incorporate some grey but instead of grey/white I’ll be going for grey/beige. Probably the same Benajmin Moore Edgecomb Grey that Young House Love have put in their current home:
The Edgecomb Grey won’t be far off from what the walls current look like at the townhouse, but a fresh coat of paint will make everything feel brand new to me!
I’m also thinking of stealing the YHL bright front door idea!
I’m not sure if I’ll go for this same blue color but I definitely want the door to be something other than white. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them!
As the closing date gets closer I get more and more excited about the possibilities!
What color paint do you have in your home?
Homeowners, what was the first thing you did when you got your keys?
