Pool Running Take 2

Yesterday was another day of pool running for me. It’s not my favorite thing in the world, but it’s not terrible.

1. Pool Running Workouts

At the recommendation of my common sense, comments from smart readers and my running coach, I’ve made a doctor’s appointment for this coming Friday to see what’s actually going on. In the mean time,ย you can find me in the pool makingย my way through these workouts:

Luckily for me the water is so warm and perfect this time of year. I have so much respect for all the northerners who get in freezing cold pools to train for triathlons during the winter!

2. Order Pet Food in Bulk to save $$$$

When I got home from my swim there was a package at the door for Cecil… his food! I order the Wellness Core cans in bulk from Amazon since he goes through about four cases in a month (he gets 3 small cans a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner!).

It’s seriously so much more economical to order from Amazon. At the pet store a case of 24 cans will cost almost $40, but from Amazon I can getย the same case for $26 (with free shipping)! Just a little tip for any other pet parents out there who sometimes feel like they spend a small fortune on cat/dog food.

3. Cherry Blossom is the Best Honey Stinger Flavor

I have also started ordering my Honey Stinger chews in bulk from Amazon — cherry blossom is the best flavor! I don’t think there’s actually any cost savings here, BUT I don’t have to worry about cherry blossom being sold out at the store anymore!

Do you still have a Sam’s Club membership, or do you order in bulk from sites like Amazon?

    Cecil is so beautiful! Look at him trying to bring that box in using just his tail. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I still need to get on the energy chews/gels bandwagon! So, I don’t feel like I’m a ‘proper’ runner because of this. Sure, I probably could try to order some online and get them shipped to this confusing address here in China, but for now that is in the ‘too hard basket’ (esp as we are leaving this place very soon). I have tried GU when during an event before (once!) but that’s about it. When I get back to Oz/Western ‘civilisation’ (i.e. shops where I can go to a running store and ask questions etc) then I fully intend to add these babies into my training. For now, I’m using sweets (skittles etc), sugary iced teas, bananas etc…

    I hope your injury clears up really soon! Good on you for taking a running break and going to check things out with the doc.

      Hahaha he is so lazy, if he could talk I bet he would say “but mom, I did tryyyyy to bring it in myself.”

      Sweets are a good substitution. Twizzlers used to be my favorite before I found out I was celiac ;( I miss them!!

    omg i’m obsessed with amazon. i got hooked when i set up a baby registry on there and they gave me amazon prime free for a year. now i order everything online. (including an aquajogger belt ๐Ÿ™‚ did you get the regular one or the “womens” one? i just got the regular, hopefully it does keep me completely out of the water…)

    Way to stick with the water running and very wise to see the dr. Better safe than sorry. OMG ordering dog food in bulk from amazon, I’ve never thought of that. I’m looking into this today. Our boys get a can of wet dog food each day so we are buying it weekly, blah. I need to start sampling energy chews and pastes. I’m taking recommendations.

      Yes, look into buying it on Amazon!! I save so much money by doing that. It’s crazy how much the pet store will mark these little cans up!

      I’ve never tried pink lemonade! None of the stores around me stock it, and I’m too afraid to order a new flavor in bulk in case I don’t like it…eek!

    Cherry blossom is pretty great! I thought they used to make a cherry cola that I liked a lot? I wonder if they merged the flavors? I like the lemon-lime, too. But I do prefer Honey Stingers any day!

      Cherry Blossom is my #1 and then the orange ones (I think they’re called orange blossom, haha). I’ve never tried the cherry cola, but it sounds good!

    I never thought of ordering pet food online…
    Amazon prime is great…
    Chews and gels–not a big fan. I will eat a honey stinger wafer in a bind. I really need to work on the fueling aspect of running, especially for longer distances. I would like to research making a natural “Gatorade” type drink…when looking at the label of Gatorades, lots of sugar, not a lot of electrolytes–ever try it?

      That’s a great idea to make your own! I don’t drink Gatorade either, except at races… it’s much to sweet for me.

      I’ve heard Scott Jurek say he uses the Clif Electrolyte Drink. He’s pretty picky about what he puts in his body, so that one might be less sugary as far as pre-made drinks go.

      If you make your own, let me know what you put in it!

    I seriously don’t spend enough time on Amazon. I’ve heard so many people say they score some pretty amazing deals on there, but the only online shopping I do is to buy my favourite tea, and that’s only because I can’t get it where I am. i have a feeling that my credit card really appreciates it, but daaaaang it sure would be more convenient.

      Cecil pretends he doesn’t like being squeezed by looking all around while you’re hugging him, but his purring gives away his real feelings ๐Ÿ™‚

    I love Honey Stingers (especially the wafers). Another recent favorite of mine is the Salted Caramel GU – tastes oh so good! Your kitty reminds me of my kitty. ๐Ÿ™‚ I definitely buy in bulk from Costco (or wherever) when it comes to things that are much more expensive in smaller/single packages. Toilet paper from Costco is a total $$$-saver!!

    Hope you’re able to sort our what’s up with your foot! I’ve done pool jogging a few times. As a swimmer and runner, I thought I’d love it. But it just feels weird to me. Great for injuries though!
