Pulling a Rabbit Out of the Hat

All day yesterday I was so tired I could barely stand on my own two feet.

One time I closed my eyes for a second and my left eye stubbornly refused to re-open. It spasmed and stayed shut for a good 30 seconds before I could finally pry it open. I need a good night’s sleep. Thankfully I have today off of work!

When I got out for my run last night I really wasn’t sure how it was going to go. I was exhausted but the weather was nice and I didn’t want to skip so I set out for just three easy miles.

I just sort of set myself on auto pilot (except for the one time I had to stop because I had an INSANE sneezing fit). To stay awake I cranked up NSYNC as far as my volume would go. I know that’s not great for your ears but I honestly felt like I could have fallen asleep mid stride if I allowed myself to close my eyes.

How embarrassing would it have been to face planted because I fell asleep? Omg.

What a surprise when I finished my run and saw 13:51 pace for an easy run! That has not happened in a long time. Honestly, some days it feels like a struggle to get anything under 14:30 pace. A lot of that has to due with my calves KILLING me, but like I mentioned when my turnover is a little faster I feel a lot better.

This isn’t lighting fast but considering I’ve been struggling just to put two feet in front of each other the last couple of weeks it felt magic. I came home and told Adam I somehow pulled a rabbit out of the hat tonight.

When I finally showered and settled in on the couch I checked SnapChat and saw that Cecil had a field day!

If you want to see more of his snaps (and some of mine too) you can follow us @KristinaRunning :).

So, if you watched my vlog from Monday then you know my new furniture is getting delivered today! Unfortunately I got a call yesterday to let me know a couple of the pieces were on backorder and won’t be available for delivery until Monday.

The couch and loveseat will be delivered tomorrow though and those are the main things we need. Getting those two things in will really help me visualize how the living room with look once it’s complete. I’ll be vlogging the whole day because I can’t wait to show you guys. I feel like I’ve been talking about this furniture forever!

If you haven’t had a chance, you can check out my latest vlog here:

I hope you have a beautiful Friday and I’ll talk to you again soon!

When was the last time you had a surprise/magical run?
Most exciting thing you’re planning to do this weekend?

Yikes, face plant because you’re too tired. Scary. I was real surprised this past weekend. 15 miles Sat and 26 Sun, no way I expected that. This weekend I’m looking forward to sleep. Have a small 10 miler at some point and other than that it’s a recovery weekend.

You are a running machine!!!! Enjoy your sleep and lower mileage! You’ve got a really big day coming up soon! 🙂

I think those cooler temps are helping you! You had in you all along, it is just so warm it takes a while to show up 🙂
Monday isn’t too bad, sometimes backorder can mean weeks. It is going to so nice to have all new stuff!
    I have a cold 🙁 I don’t think i will accomplish much,
haha, my marathon didn’t feel magical until the end. Really my runs the week before my 20 miler were those awesome happy runner high kind of runs 😉

The cooler temps definitely agree with it!

I was really surprised to hear it was backordered but would be here Monday. That doesn’t sound like a backorder at all, just a slightly delay. Really glad it will arrive Monday though!

Oh no, I hope you feel better soon!

You run fast when you are tired! Why have you been so tired this week? I have been going to bed early and sleeping like a rock. No idea why. Have fun this weekend getting your furniture and working at your new place! 🙂 I am excited to help my SIL tomorrow taking my nieces to swim lessons. I get to GET IN THE WATER WITH CLEMENTINE and help her at lessons! I can’t freaking wait! I’m so glad I don’t have kids but also glad I have nieces where I can do stuff like this from time to time. 🙂

Apparently so! I thought of you and how you run speedy miles when you don’t get a lot of sleep. Maybe it’s a thing? We might be onto something! Want to PR? Don’t sleep the night before!

Awwww swimming lessons with Clementine sounds like a lot of fun!

I’m the opposite. Both Adam and I are really awkward around children because neither of us come from big families and never have had exposure to them. However, I can very easily bond with cats and dogs LOL!

I love magical runs! I haven’t had one in a while, but the time I ran a 20 miler I was so pleased with my pace and how nicely my body responded!

This weekend consists of relaxing and hopefully getting over my awful cold!

Oh no I hope you feel better by Monday! Just in time to enjoy Thanksgiving festivities :).

That’s awesome that you were feeling so pleased about your 20 miler. I definitely share in that sentiment. I remember struggling the last three miles of my one and only 20 miler but when I was done I felt like I was on top of the world! Isn’t it amazing how running can give us such amazing feelings?

I feel like it is okay to treat toddlers like cats and dogs. 🙂

I am sitting on a plane to Florida right now. I hope I packed the right clothes because the weather looked warm, but then was going to change. Just my luck that I would probably pack the wrong stuff! Anyhow, it’s 10 days off work for my and I’m psyched!
Can’t wait to see the new furniture and your new place as you put it together. My decorating skills are minimal. I would need help putting it all together!

How exciting that you’re coming to the sunshine state! YES we are expecting a cold front, but I bet you won’t find it that cold at all. It’ll probably be light jacket weather for you while I’ll be wearing a peacoat, boots and five scarves 🙂

Sometimes setting yourself on “autopilot” is the best way to get a solid run in. I think the cool weather is helping, too!
