Real Women Have Bridges (WTF)

Happy Wednesday!

I ended up doing a four mile run/walk yesterday, and my knee didn’t bother me at all! I really wanted to get out and enjoy the cool, fresh air.

Apparently 55 degrees is too cold for everyone in south Florida because my route was completely empty and I think all of 10 people were at the restaurants along the beach.

Maybe they were in the gym working on their #BikiniBridge. Have you heard about this social media hoax?

Apparently some idiots decided they were going to make the idea of a #BikiniBridge go viral. Why? Because it’s always fun to push a beauty standard on women that has little to no correlation with their actual health just for fun. The Bikini Bridge is as awesome as the Thigh Gap.

This hoax (or whatever it is) is brought to you by the same classy people who encouraged Justin Bieber fans to cut themselves to get him to stop smoking pot. The idea was that if enough of his fans took to self-harm they would get Bieber’s attention and be able to warn him of the ‘dangers’ of smoking pot.

If you’re not sure what I’m talking about Google “cutting for Bieber.” Just a warning that graphic pictures will show up.

If you’re not sure what the logic behind this is, well of course there is none because these people are incredibly ignorant and have no regard for whether their fun little game is actually causing people with mental disorders (depression, eating disorder, etc.) to engage in harmful behavior that can ultimately lead to death.

I can’t even … the whole thing just makes my head hurt.

Moving on because I really can’t think about those idiots anymore… Cecil climbed into a cabinet and looked really cute.

cabinetcat

No, of course he’s not allowed in cabinets but he does whatever he wants anyway : ) He has more brain cells than those #BikiniBridge idiots.

Can you believe people actually spend valuable time actively working on these type of hoaxes? Do they not understand the concept of consequences?Β

Yeah that meme is awful. you should “fit” in your bathing suit, one. and 2, it’s a little sexist to say women just lay there and men will build bridges. <–I get that this isn't what they're going for but the whole thing is a stretch if you ask me.

Agh, this is so frustrating for me. I know it was started as a joke…by men…but obviously people who with unhealthy mentalities will run with it. Give the eating disordered person something to strive for, and she’ll do it. Obviously I find this trend disgusting, but I’m hoping it will just fade into obscurity.

You know what killed me is that some women were in on it from the beginning too. It’s wrong whether you’re a man or woman, but it’s extra baffling to me when a woman is willing to participate in stuff like this. But mostly its baffling to me that a human would spend time on this and then not consider the consequences.

I didn’t hear of that bikini bridge thing, but it is just about the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Who would want to either encourage that or think it’s funny???

I can’t believe people were actually cutting for that kid. So messed up! And the bridge thing just pisses me off. One more thing to make us feel like crap about because we all can’t pull that off. I don’t understand people sometimes.

Right? It’s painful to know that people are so willing to take advantage of others and knowingly put them in harms way. I can’t even begin to understand how you come up with an idea like this or decide to really, honestly put it into action and think it’s funny. How scary.
