Right Now…

Right now I’m super high on the awesome win the HEAT pulled out over the Cavs! We may not be going to the finals this year, but man do I love those guys!

I’m also super high on the fact that I got to go running outside yesterday!

(I could never leave Fort Lauderdale… BEACH LIFE FOR LIFE!)

Last week while I was waiting for my Garmin replacement I tried to use the Strava app to record my runs, but twice if failed to record anything. I guess my phone really doesn’t like Strava. Since I’m all about the data, I ended up doing the majority of my runs on the treadmill. Bleh.

The good news is my new Garmin is finally here!!!! Reunited and it feels so good!

I don’t know why the pic looks so dark, the sun wasn’t down yet when I finished my run. I think it might have been dense tree coverage!

Who knows…

I’m just glad to be running after work in the daylight again! It’s nice to see the world :).

My shin is feeling really good after last week’s soreness. I ended up not doing a long run  last weekend and I think the extra day of rest really helped out. Or at least that’s what I am telling myself so I don’t feel bad about skipping my long run! Life happens, right? Right!

To everyone who is running the PAWS 5K/10K don’t forget that March 20th is the last day to submit your time to be included in the official finishing time page I’ll be putting up!

Courtney did her run with Arrow last night! How cute is this pic?!

I love it!

High fives all around for getting past Monday. Hope your Tuesday is a good one!

Tonight I’m going for a 3-minute plank!!!! Wish me luck 🙂 .

Hey, just an idea, you should try for a new plank PR today too! Go for it!

  1. Courtney @ Running For Cupcakes

Aww thanks for sharing my and Arrow’s pic! You don’t even want to know how many tries that took and it still came out blurry haha! I’m sorry you have probably said this a million times but do I just email you my results?

No problem! Yes, you can just email me the results! 🙂

I think the pic came out great!

I’m glad your shin is feeling better! Sometimes it is necessary to listen to our bodies and take the extra rest day if we need it.

Definitely! I got all dressed up to go running, walked outside, felt the heat, walked back inside with all intentions to go running later in the day and then I took a nap and never recovered from it. I guess my body wanted the sleep instead of the long run!

  3. Lizzy

Your running route is insanely beautiful. No wonder you missed it!

Sure, I’m game to try a plank PR, but it won’t be 3 minutes! I haven’t actually tried timing my planks in a while, so maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

      Hahahaha you crack me up!

I was actually thinking I need to even out my skin tone. My face is so dark compared to my shoulders/arms/chest. Everything will even out now that I’m running in the daylight again… although that does mean wearing sunscreen all the time again, and I hate how greasy it can make my skin feel. Greasy + sweaty is just not the best combo! haha

  5. cheryl

The sky in those pictures is so strikingly beautiful! I will join you in trying to get a PR for planking–thanks for the motivation!
I have 3 days for my virtual race–wohoo!

When I use Strava, I have the info go from Garmin connect to Strava, so it is getting the info from my Garmin. It automatically links up (Dave set it up), it usually takes less than a minute for it to synch w Strava from Garmin Connect. For my treadmill runs, I have to manually enter them into Strava.

I like that setup! Now that I have Garmin Connect collecting my data again I don’t know if I need Strava anymore. I already log my workouts in so many places: Garmin Connect, my coach’s training log and my Believe journal!

    2. Kristina @ Blog About Running

Yes! Let’s get that PR today! I’ll be going for it tonight after I get home from work!

  6. Hanna

Glad you were able to run outside!

I also had problems with the Strava phone app when I used it. Sometimes it wouldn’t record, like it did for you, and other times it would make my phone die, 6.5 miles into a 7 mile run, when the battery wasn’t that low. Phone apps in general are just not that good, in my experience. The GPS is never very accurate.

Not sure I’m ready for a plank PR yet, but I may have to attempt a 2:00 again!

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I don’t think it’s very user friendly.

The one day after my run the app showed the start button again so I assumed that it never recorded my run, but the next morning I got an alert on my phone showing an achievement for 12 continuous hours of activity LOL. I guess the timer ran all night? I have no idea. So weird!

Go for the 2:00!!! Let me know how it goes. We can have sore abs together tomorrow, haha!

  7. Kerry

I’m glad to hear that your Garmin is back! Running with your phone can be so frustrating.

I’m up for a plank PR challenge! I’ll let you know how it goes. 🙂

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

Yes! I’m going for my PR tonight around 7:30pm!

  8. Carmy

now hold that garmin tight and never let it out of sight! haha! I honestly love your pics, a much better view than were I run!

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR PLANK!!!! My plank PR happened when I was SUPER pissed about something. You should read something that will get you fired up and then take out your energy on the plank. 🙂

  12. Ali @ Hit the Ground Running

I know your Garmin was acting weird awhile ago…I didn’t realize you needed to replace it! Did they send you a free one? I feel like yours wasn’t that old!

It was less than a year old so it was still covered until the full warranty and they sent me a free replacement! The whole process took about a week and a half, so it was pretty quick all things considered!

  13. Jenn @ Running on Lentils

I llovewhen you post beach pics! Glad your shin is feeling good again. I’m actually in the process of having my Garmin (same model as yours) replaced. I haven’t even had it a month but it’s very glitchy & all the fixes they had me try didn’t work.

Oh man, I’m sorry to hear that you have to get a replacement already! Hopefully the new one won’t given you any problems.

I was so frustrated at first when I had to send my Garmin away, but then I realized it’s basically a little computer that we were on our arms. We’re living in the future and should be grateful this tech even exists! haha

  14. Bae @ the Riley recap

Those beach pics are SO GOOD! You should blow them up and get some up around your new place! 🙂
