I can’t wait to run my first 5K, half marathon, marathon, ultramarathon!
When I first started blogging back in early 2013 my goal was to run a 5K. Today I’ve run a handful of 5Ks, nine half marathons and even a full marathon!
My running goals are ever changing, but I do hope to get faster, stronger and to go longer! That’s not too much to ask, right?
Here are my current top five running goals – some of these I hope to accomplish very soon while others I hope to complete within a year or two.
- Run more full marathons!
- Reach 2:45 in the half marathon
- Run a sub-36 minute 5K
- Run a 50K
- Run a 50-miler
My big pie-in-the-sky, super long term goal is to run a 100-miler someday. That’s more of a wish or a dream rather than something I think could actually happen since I am a slow runner and probably wouldn’t meet the cut-off times – but I LOVE long runs. The only reason I do speed work is so that I can ensure I meet the cut off times for the ultramarathons that I hope are in my (near-ish) future!
There’s just nothing like the feeling of a long run!
I also have a running bucket list of races and other goals that I would love to accomplish someday!

Great goals! I am training for my first half too. September 14th is the big day. I have been running off and on for the last 4 1/2 years taking forced breaks when I get pregnant. I am at a 11 1/2 min mile but can only do the first mile that “fast.” After that I slow way down. I look forward to hearing how training is going and how you do with your first half marathon!

Hi Elizabeth,
It sounds like we’re at about the same place in regards to pacing. Please keep commenting as I would love to stay up to date with your training as well 🙂
Sept. 14th is right around the corner – you must be getting VERY excited! 🙂
better put a “9 minute mile” goal up there. I can see that happening sooner rather than later!

I am getting ready to start training for my second marathon. An Ultra seems way off in the distance. However, I shouldnt hold myself back either. Love your blog and catching up on your latest personal challenges. Cheers, Jerod
Hello, Kristina! I love running too! But your story is such an inspiration, keep the fire burning! Cheers!
I am starting to achieve the 3k run this weekend. I have hyperthyroidism and I need to lose weight to stay healthy. After the 3k, I’ll go for 5k, 10k, and more soon. Good luck on your 100-mile run. I am definitely going to do all that I can to be successful in my sports.
I am trying the 3k run. Wish me luck! I wish to lose weight too and be the better version of myself! Yaiy! Thanks for this!

I am just new in running but I am confident that I can make it. I would like to recover from my disease and I wish to change my lifestyle. I know that running is an effective method to do it. Reading your post makes me want to reevaluate my life and fix the things I have done in the past.
