Running, Lifting and House UPDATES!

Hey there! Is it Monday again already? Let’s roll with some updates!

1. Running Update

I haven’t given a proper Miami training update in a while mostly because everything is going along as planned. My calves are still tight but they aren’t holding me back from logging my miles!

In fact, on Saturday the first time I had a free minute to go running was after 10pm, and you know what? I took advantage of that!

I would be lying if I said it was easy to get myself down to the gym, but it was worth it as usual.

I’ve been through a whole gambit of extreme emotions over the last week and running really helps me work through my own thoughts and feelings without interruption. While it’s been helpful during this election cycle, running provides me with this same kind of relief when I’m working through my feelings about … anything.

It’s also a way that I can plan, dream and strategize without interruption. I’ve started approximately 1,000 new businesses while running just because it’s the perfect time to focus on something new and exciting without distractions.

I also “write” the draft of almost every blog post while I’m running! I always think about what happened during the day and what I want to share with you asap!

2. Lifting Update

While running helps me to work through my emotions in what I consider to be a healthy way, lifting helps me to work through my frustrations in a muuuuch different way.

There’s nothing like anger to push you to the next level on a lift! Is that unhealthy? Maybe!

In addition to a solid full body lifting session this weekend, I also knocked out a 3 minute 15 second plank on Sunday night. I haven’t held a plank for more than 2 minutes in a long time, but Sunday I just knew I would cross the 3 minute mark.

This picture was obviously taken in the first few seconds before my body started shaking and my face screwed up into the “please help, i need this to be done, why is time moving so slowly” look :).

I see you shaking your head in agreement, I know you know what I’m talking about!

3.  House Update

Oh, where do I begin? Painting is my second job. I don’t like it and it feels like it’s taking FOREVER.  I just keep reminding myself painting a house is a marathon not a sprint. At the end I will feel overwhelmingly accomplished and happy to have finished!

In addition to more painting Adam and his dad installed recessed lighting in the master bedroom which I am in LOVE with! The room lights up like the actual sun is glowing inside of it now!

I’ll have to take a pic when it’s dark out so you can see. Or maybe you don’t care what the lighting is like in my bedroom, haha! I’ll probably show you anyways because I am very excited about it!

I feel like I say this every week, but the house is really coming along. I promise at some point I’m going to tell you that we’re moving in :).

What do you think about on your runs?
What’s your current favorite podcast?
I’m looking for new ones!

Running after 10pm?! I couldn’t do it. I am very impressed with your dedication! I don’t even know what I think about on my runs…all sorts of things I guess. Sometimes I start drafting blog posts in my head too!

      I don’t recommend running after 10pm! 😀

I’m glad I’m not the only one that drafts blog posts while running. It’s the perfect time to collect your thoughts ABOUT running!

I write during my runs too lol. When your out for hours at a time a lot goes through your mind. I talk to God a lot, think about my family, challenges in my life. Anything to take my mind off the suffering lol.

Cudos to Adam, running lights in the bedroom, awesome! What a stud!

Podcasts?!? Music?!? Sorry can’t help you there. I listen to wonderful harmony of my own suffering.

That is good you can work stuff out while working out. While working out helps me with me with minor stresses, I have found when I am really sad or things like last week, I just feel drained. I had a hard time shaking that off while running Saturday.
Every so often I will come up with an idea I feel I need to post, but I can never remember it when i am done running lol Start a business while running, I have not even…I usually day dream about hitting the lottery, maybe i need to buy a ticket each week.
I know that plank shaking well lol great job on 3 minutes, that is beastly!!

Hahaha dreaming about winning the lottery, I’ve been there before. Especially last year when it was so high!

I am glad your calves are not hindering you getting your miles in. My ITB was like that… just sort of like an annoyance but never really stopped me from doing my thing. It has been relatively quiet for several months though! Knock on wood. I wanted to comment on your super long plank but I don’t know how to do that on Insta! Girl, that is epic!! And I bet you did that after all your lifting! I can’t believe you ran at 10:20pm. That just shows you do what you gotta do when you are dedicated. 🙂

I know what you mean about painting. I lose interest in painting really quick! It’s so fun to start with, and then you have to paint the trim, and tape everything, and clean it up… such a process! But hey, think of all of the money you’re saving!!
I’m not much of a night runner, since I get the morning shift on our treadmill, but when my husband used to work he would run really late sometimes. Or he’d run a long run after we got back from a road trip and it was midnight! Crazy!

It looks like your house is coming along. I applaud you for diving in right away. When we bought our house, I had a ton of plans for painting and other things. It’s been six years now and we’ve only painted one room! Ooops.
