For the last couple of days I’ve been dealing with a sore and inflamed right knee. I iced it a couple times because the cold feels really good. I also purchased an Instant Cold Wrap at CVS and can confirm that it is awesome.
Think of it like an ACE bandage that provides compression and never-ending coolness. It’s completely reusable, according to the instructions all you have to do is put it back in the bottle, add some water and then reuse as necessary.
Today my knee was feeling better than it has been so I hit the treadmill for a five mile run. I kept the pace easy and completed the run without any big issues (felt the knee a little bit but nothing bad).
To get pumped up for my run today I watched a bunch of interviews with Scott Jurek on YouTube (he’s my running idol). Just recently he paced Seb Chaigneau to a first place finish and a new course record at the Hardrock 100 (just a few years ago Scott held the course record).

If you’re looking for inspiration and/or you’re a Scott or Seb fan, check out this short video documenting Hardrock from this year:
In other “news” I’ve started doing the Plank-a-Day challenge. On day 1 I could only hold it for 15 seconds (planks are much harder than I thought they were!), but yesterday I held it for 30 seconds and today I held it for 36 seconds! YEAH! Feeling like a planking rockstar!
How long can you hold a plank for?
Who is your running idol?
I love Scott and am also inspired by Kara and Shalane. Oh, and I never get tired of watching Bolt do his thing!
