Leaving Cecil at the Vet

GUYS. Yesterday I dropped Cecil off at the vet for his thyroid treatment. The look in his eyes as they carried him away from me made me feel like a total traitor!

The nurse called me late yesterday afternoon to let me know Cecil was doing okay. She said they keep a Feliway diffuser in the room at all times which pumps the room with calming pheromones. I hope he slept okay, I’m looking forward to my morning update.

The good news is the vet told us that when Cecil comes home we don’t have to keep our distance. The guidelines say to limit total exposure to a cat who has had the procedure to two hours per day, but he said really the only thing we need to do is ensure Cecil doesn’t get too close to our own thyroids. That means not allowing him to sleep near our heads/necks and not holding him too often… and it’s only for two weeks not a month.

I think we can all handle that! Cecil loves to be held so that will be the hardest part, but for two weeks we can do it, especially since he’ll still be able to sit on our laps or next to us.

BIG thanks to everyone who reached out yesterday to see how it went for Cecil. I appreciate you guys so much :).

… Is it Friday yet?

What’s one good thing that happened so far this week?
Any Superbowl plans yet?

I’m so glad that Cecil is ok! That’s gonna be tough to not hold him. Elly follows me around the house weaving between my feet and meowing until I hold her. Two weeks is not long at all though.

We don’t have any super bowl plans. Honestly, I forgot about it until I read your post. Lol. I think Frank and I are going to spend Sunday hiking up Squaw Peak down in Provo.

Hahahah that sounds like an awesome way to spend a Sunday! Definitely the healthier alternative to what I’m going to be doing on superbowl sunday!

The title of this post borderline gave me a heart attack. Glad it wasn’t the horrible update I thought it was!! Good luck Cecil!!! Can’t wait to hear how he’s doing when he is home again

OMG the title of this post….girl!!

Haha I’m glad Cecil will be able to come home and cuddle but I imagine it will be hard to keep him away from your face and neck that long!

I think we will go to a party for the Superbowl. I decided to take Monday the 5th off to give myself a 3 day weekend, and it will be nice because I will be able to enjoy staying up late for the game!
