Leaving Cecil at the Vet
GUYS. Yesterday I dropped Cecil off at the vet for his thyroid treatment. The look in his eyes as they carried him away from me made me feel like a total traitor!
The nurse called me late yesterday afternoon to let me know Cecil was doing okay. She said they keep a Feliway diffuser in the room at all times which pumps the room with calming pheromones. I hope he slept okay, I’m looking forward to my morning update.
The good news is the vet told us that when Cecil comes home we don’t have to keep our distance. The guidelines say to limit total exposure to a cat who has had the procedure to two hours per day, but he said really the only thing we need to do is ensure Cecil doesn’t get too close to our own thyroids. That means not allowing him to sleep near our heads/necks and not holding him too often… and it’s only for two weeks not a month.
I think we can all handle that! Cecil loves to be held so that will be the hardest part, but for two weeks we can do it, especially since he’ll still be able to sit on our laps or next to us.
BIG thanks to everyone who reached out yesterday to see how it went for Cecil. I appreciate you guys so much :).
… Is it Friday yet?
