Slow Runner Getting Faster: My Mental Training

Hey there! Today I’ve got a new running related video where I talk about how I’ve improved my mental training and toughness over the last few weeks.

When I first got back to training earlier this year I had not just lost my physical fitness but also all of my mental strength. And I didn’t have a lot of mental strength to begin with. I started really working on this a few weeks ago when I decided, “hey I made an investment into my legs when I elected to have surgery so it’s time to get the absolute most out of my running!”

    Thanks for sharing . I am quite a fast runner and what helps is building strength.

      Hey Ralph! I’m pretty good on the strength part. I can squat over 200lbs and deadlift close to 300lbs. I think there is likely a big mix of factors that go into why someone runs slow or fast in comparison to others. Tough to just narrow it down to any one thing but I agree strength is definitely a factor in being a faster and stronger runner!

    Nice job! Mental strength is what I struggle with too. As Javelina Jundred looms closer, I’m getting more and more worried about that. I really like your view about the “investment in your legs”. It’s so true. Training is also such an investment in your legs and body. I should really try thinking about that when the going gets tough at my race!
