Happy Monday! I hope you started your day with a nice warm cup o’ joe like me. I hear it boosts morning productivity by 100 million percent!
I was planning to talk about my Chicago marathon training plan and goals today, but it turns out I have A LOT to say about that topic and I need more time for writing and editing!
Instead let’s take a trip down memory lane …
Yesterday morning Adam, Cecil and I all slept in and lazed about until early afternoon.
Cecil is the most dramatic sleeper ever. I think he must have been an actor in another life.
Adam and I saw the afternoon showing of Mad Max at the dine-in theater. This was the first time we’ve sat in the Cinema Suites … WOW! The seats are extra large and cushioned AND they recline! I was in heaven!
I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to go back to a regular movie theater experience again!
Adam is a fan of the Mad Max series and really enjoyed the movie from beginning to end. The movie wasn’t really my cup of tea but I still thought the ending was quite good. If you’re not already familiar with the series I would recommend you read up on it a bit before going otherwise you’ll be a little lost at the beginning (like I was); the movie really jumps right into the thick of things.
In the evening I headed down to the beach for a run!
I got in 60 minutes which is really the longest I’ve run in a couple weeks. I’m still coughing a little bit so I had to stop a few times (I think three) because I just needed to catch my breathe from coughing, but other than that it was a really satisfying run.
(Sidenote: The dry coughing is just killing me! It’s the only symptom left from bronchitis and it just won’t go away! UGH!)
The weather wasn’t bad at all yesterday which always makes a run 10X easier!
I’m really starting to get excited about Chicago training, which is good since the start of my training program is right around the corner!
Yesterday I finally booked my hotel for Chicago. I had been going back-and-forth about whether I wanted to do AirBNB or stay at one of the hotels near the start/finish. In the end I was able to get a group discount for The Congress Plaza Hotel through Team Paws and went with that. For two nights the room came out to just over $500 which seems to be a fair rate compared to what some of the other hotels are charging during race weekend.
I think 58 of the 60 minutes I was running yesterday I was thinking about Chicago… training, the race, meeting blog friends in the city, etc. I can’t wait!
Chillin’ post run thinking about Chicago!!!
I think that’s sand on my lips? It was a little windy. Gross, sorry about that!
The zipper on my trusty Armpocket broke yesterday. I guess it’s finally time for a new one. I’m kind of sad because this one has been with me through so many races and training runs over the last year! I get so attached to my running things!
I guess I better go and see what new colors and options Armpocket has in stock… talk to ya later!
If you’re running Chicago have you booked your hotel/flights yet?!
How did your running go this weekend?
