Something to Consider!

Man. I really can’t get a grip on what makes my calves tighten up, but last night they were pretty loose and I felt amazing!

I really think on the days that I run easy my calves act up the worst. The days that I do speed or tempo runs they feel the best. Last night I had three miles at race pace and my calves were only slightly tight during my warmup. Go figure!

Also you see that cigarette butt on the ground next to my shoe ^? Yeah, the trash can is literally just a few steps away. I don’t get how people can be so lazy and careless.

The feels like temp yesterday was only 100*F. HAH!

I commented on Megan’s blog saying I think it’s a weird joke we play on ourselves when we decide to marathon train during the middle of summer. Are we crazy? It’s something to seriously consider!

You might remember a few months ago Adam and I started trying out a few different meal delivery services. We kept up with it for a couple of months but eventually went back to regular grocery shopping because the place we were ordering from didn’t offer a lot of variety and we got bored.

A couple of weeks ago a cool company called Fresh ‘N Lean reached out to see if I would be interested in trying their organic meal delivery service. Of course I said YES since I love the convenience of meal deliveries!

The meals come individually packed, with nutritional labels and are stored in dry ice to keep them fresh during shipping.


I was sent a couple different breakfast and lunch/dinner options that were all organic and gluten free!

One of my favorites in the delivery was a big serving of granola. Adam and I actually used it as a snack to munch on while watching Arrested Development at night when we ran out of chips :).

My favorite meal that had to be heated up was the Coconut Mushroom Noodles!

The portion looks small but it was actually quite a lot. I ate half as a side dish with a turkey burger for dinner one night and it was perfect! I love chickpeas and this dish was FULL OF THEM! There wasn’t a lot of seasoning in the dish so I add a little garlic powder :).

If you feel like you never have a lot of time to cook healthy foods or you just want someone to cook for you every night, Fresh ‘N Lean might be a good option for you. Just go on their website and you’ll find a lot of different meal plan delivery options for different budgets. They also offer a la cart meals if you just need a few pre-made, always fresh meals for a particularly busy day or week.

Just to be up front, Fresh ‘N Lean is an organic delivery service so it’s not exactly cheap. It’s definitely aimed at people who have a bit of disposable income to spend on food. For instance, the standard plan which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner each week day costs $27 per day. If you only have lunch or dinner delivered it’s only $14 per day.

Basically, if you’re used to eating out for one or more meals a few times a week you probably won’t see the prices as being out of this world. However, if you’re used to cooking and eating at home you might find the cost to be quite a bit outside of your normal budget. If meal delivery seems like something that might work for your budget I would definitely give Fresh ‘N Lean a try, especially for their lunch and dinner options.

    I used to be awesome at meal planning but lately I feel like I’ve been eating whatever, whenever! With your calf issue, do you think you’re getting enough electrolytes? Specifically thinking about potassium but not sure if magnesium could also be a culprit? I hope they feel better soon!!

      Hmmm I have no idea! I think I get enough electrolytes. I drink Gatorade during long runs and after weekday runs I drink a smoothie with coconut water. I will have to do some research on that – thanks!

    Weekend – trail run and church, pretty typical.

    Doesn’t it feel amazing when your body is feeling good and you can knock out miles. I love that feeling.

    I try to meal plan but mostly just take left overs from dinner the night before. Usually comes out great.

    You know I usually feel better during speedy runs than the slow ones too!

    How comes no meal delivery places reach out to me???? 😉

      I think the body likes speed after all of those slow easy miles. It’s like HALLELUJAH LET’S GO!

    Have you thought about getting a massage? I get one every month, switching between focusing on my legs and my back, and it helps identify problem areas and get them worked out.

    I want to try one of these services but I haven’t yet. I need to do it. I don’t like to cook. I have been better about meal prepping my lunches and that takes all my energy!
    Litter of any kind I just don’t get it!! Even in a race I try to hit a trashcan with my cups.
