Stronger Than Yesterday

Today is not just Friday, it’s FOOTBALL FRIDAY!

unnamed (42)

Tonight is the first pre-season game of the year and I am so ready to see my Dolphins in action!

I still can’t believe Adam and I are really going to London to see the Dolphins play this September! I bought the tickets way back in February as A’s Valentine’s gift and it felt like football season would NEVER get here!

sdfsdf

We’ve seen the Dolphins play the Raiders three times in person and the Dolphins won each time, so we are feeling good about this game!

Last night I went for my beach run, per usual.

The storm clouds were rolling in and I made it home just in time! Phew.

I’m always so worried about getting caught in a storm because I know you’re supposed to avoid trees since they attract lightning, but there are tall palm trees all over the place on my route!

This weekend I’ve got 14 miles on the schedule — the last 3 miles are fast finish miles.

I have to say I’m pretty happy that I only have to do 14 on Saturday since 16 last weekend really kicked my butt and the idea of running 17 is intimidating me a bit. If I can get in a really strong run this weekend I know I’ll feel better about running 17 next weekend.

Fingers crossed!

Do you have a long run planned for this weekend? How many miles?

– I feel like so many of us are knee-deep in marathon training right now : ) I love it!

What’s your go-to running mantra right now?

– “Stronger than yesterday.”

So I literally ran into the madness last night. I was not thinking and ran down near the stadium (Mile High) and saw some crowds. On the way home, I was weaving in and out of orange and blue walking to the stadium. It added an extra obstacle to my run. Fun!

I am sure all the weaving was annoying but FOOTBALL!!

Are you all Steelers all the time, or do you cheer for the Broncos too?

Super beautiful views!!! My go to mantra now is “I can do this!” I don’t know why, but it works. 🙂

It’s totally reassuring! I tell myself that too!

I guess my mantra is “it’s alright, you got this.” I find myself saying that to myself a lot these days.

That’s a good one! I tell myself something similar — ‘you got this, just X more minutes to go’ 🙂

I am SO excited about football season!!! I don’t have a long run scheduled for the weekend, but will probably do 10 or so miles at a slower pace in preparation for my triathlon next weekend. Gotta love taper mode! After my triathlon I will be stepping up the mileage big time and focusing more on just running. My mantra – if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.

Ironman #2 coming up!!! You deserve the taper. All of your training is so inspiring!

I like your mantra. It’s a good one to use when the pain really turns on! hah!

I freak out about storms as well! Some people brag about running in storms because it is “bad ass”. You know what I say to them in my head? “Congratulations, you’re stupid.” haha!

Same! I don’t mind running in a little rain, but lightning … no thanks!

As I was heading back to my house I saw runners still heading DOWN to the beach and definitely judged them for their bad choices lol

Football season is here! My Eagles play the Bears tonight, I can’t wait. I have 10-12 miles scheduled for tomorrow. BUT I did speed work on Wed and I am dying lol.

I’m really excited to see the Dolphins offense tonight since we nabbed Bill Lazor from you guys 🙂 I hope he can help Tannehill grow like he did with Foles!

  7. Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy

My running mantra at the moment is “do the best you can”. It works for me 🙂

I use that mantra just to make sure I get myself out the door some nights 😀

  8. Kim

I love your running mantra – sort of my life theme!!!
Enjoy your football game tonight!!! I hope the weather cooperates tomorrow and you don’t have any storms or horrible humidity during your 14 miles!!

Thank you!!! It actually started thundering during the last 1/2 mile so I made it home just in time!!!

    My mantra, “you’ve got this”…
I think you will be surprised how “short” 14 miles seems after 16…
I have a double planned on Sunday 8&7…with softball practice in between. The softball practice is really no big deal, but I was sore after last week’s practice!
So excited about football…Pats preseason though…ouch.

Haha I would hardly worry about your preseason! I’d have a pretty happy outlook if Tom Brady was on my team 🙂

      Hope your double went perfectly!

  10. Karen

I do love your views 🙂 I struggled so bad yesterday trying to run 30 min. I can’t imagine running 14 or 16 right now lol I am not sure if running speedy fatigued my legs that much or if it was just an off day. A trip to London sounds super fun!

Maybe it was a combination of both. Some days are just like that :/ Hope your next run is perfect! A couple weeks ago I had a HORRIBLE 2 mile run and the next day I had a great run. Ahh, the ebbs and flow of running!

  11. Carmy

my long run just got derailed! My bf got sunday off and decided that we should go to Wonderland so no long run for me! he RARELY gets a day off so I’m super excited! haha
