Sunday on Las Olas

Adam and I had a pretty relaxing weekend!

On Saturday I met my mom for brunch and then did a little shopping at my favorite store, Home Goods. I didn’t find much except a pretty decorative plate for the dining room tableΒ which I think was a steal at only $12!

In the evening we went to see Beauty & the Beast at the dine-in theater.

Growing up Beauty & the Beast was my least favorite Disney movie because it scared me. I thought I could handle it as an adult but when those wolves come for Maurice it brought a flood of memories back and I almost looked away. This is why I don’t go see horror films! 😳😁

I thought the movie was pretty good. I didn’t like the Be Our Guest scene. I thought it was a little more over the top than I would have liked, but I enjoyed everything else!

Sunday Adam and I woke up and went for a walk down to the beach to get lunch.

We took a stroll through our old neighborhood. The one we lived in when we first moved to Fort Lauderdale. I can’t tell you how many times I ran up and down this road.

It reminds me so much of marathon training back in 2014 because I would often be the only one running on it super early in the morning. Yes, there actually was a time that I got up at 4am to go running by 5am. It’s shocking to me too!

It took us about 20 minutes to get down to the beach. The weather forecast was cloudy but very little chance of rain, which we were counting on.

Unfortunately as we got closer to the beach the heavens did open up with a cold drizzle. Luckily it never reached a down pour and the cold water felt good.

After lunch the clouds disappeared and the sun came out to play.

We walked about 3 miles roundtrip which served as a good warm up for my run. As soon as we got home I laced up and head out for a few more miles so I could listen to the Maura Murray podcast.

78 degrees out is hot. I need to move. Later this week we’ll be back to the upper 80s and then you’re really going to hear me cry.Β That being said, I do think my calves feel a lot better when it’s warm out so secretly I’m happy that it’s warming up again!

When I got home from my run I curled up on the couch with this little boy.

^ Don’t mind that big scratch on my knee which may or may not have been caused by this angelΒ going batshit crazyΒ and climbing up my leg when I didn’t feed him on time the other day. The man likes his routine, what can I say?

What was the best part of your weekend?
Thoughts on Beauty and the Beast?
Does your pet go nuts if s/he isn’t fed on time?!

Its always fun to go back and visit places we used to live/run/etc. I wouldn’t mind some warmer weather here. I know I will complain when the summer heat hits but I am just so over winter at this point.

The grass is always greener on the other side because I would love a bit more winter down here. Although I am surprised we had a cold front come through in March – that hardly ever happens!

You can’t move! You LIVE where people VACATION. That’s what I tell Susan all the time. πŸ™‚ Why did you need an hour before you run? Do you need to eat and digest? As I’m sure you can imagine, we are punished if we don’t feed the cats on time! I’m glad your weekend was relaxing, you deserve it!

Hahaha yeah I don’t know if I could ever move away from the beach, but I would love if it would snow here at least once a year πŸ™‚

Yep! Since I would/will only ever get up that early before a long run I would eat before I went. Since there is only one bathroom open that early in the morning and it’s quite a bit away I would need to digest and “go” before I started running! I just realized that I would never talk about going to the bathroom with anyone other than my running friends lol. How funny that it’s such a normal/common thing for runners to talk about and laugh about, but totally TMI to talk about with anyone else!

We went back to my childhood neighborhood yesterday (mom still lives there) to help mom with some house stuff. Its crazy to see how the area has changed but also to see many of the things that are the same.

Oh gosh don’t get me started. Buster has an internal clock that tells him it’s 5pm and dinner time. He starts wimpering and snorting. Spoiled brat lol

Hhaha Buster and Cecil are one in the same! 5pm is Cecil’s dinner time too and he does not like to wait!

I really liked Beauty and the Beast. I’m not sure if I loved the travelling to Paris part, but maybe I’m just resisting change from the original. πŸ™‚ Our dog is pretty cool with not getting fed at the exact same time everyday, which is good because we don’t have a very consistent schedule!

I actually liked the Paris part because I think it added to the building of Belle and the beast’s relationship. Normally I don’t like when updates stray from the original but I thought that was a nice bonding scene. I can definitely see why you wouldn’t like it though!

Let’s trade places! I go to live in Florida and walk to Las Olas, you can come and live in PA and be in the cold!! I love Las Olas!! I have only gone to Florida for vacation, so I automatically switch over to relaxation mode when I see your pictures of the beach.

I really liked Beauty and The Beast, better than the original. My son was scared of the first beast scenes, he brought his eye mask (don’t judge us, he wanted one) to cover his eyes during the scary scenes. I love most of the actors that were in Beauty and the Beast, especially Luke Evans!!

I would not judge for bringing the eye mask, I probably should have brought one to cover my eyes!

Luke Evans was sooooooo good as Gaston. Like, I hated him so much in the end which was just perfect!

The beach is SO pretty. You are so luck to live within walking distance of it.

I loved B&tB. It was my favorite fairytale (Disney or otherwise) because I liked that the heroine was bookish and brunette. I always felt odd as a kid, so I really identified with Belle. I loved that she found love in an unexpected place and that being odd and smart paid off for her in the end.

I sobbed like a baby in the theater when we saw this version. No shame here! lol

I definitely got teary eyed during the end of the movie too. I really liked the addition of the Paris scene which I thought was a great bonding moment. I looooved the library scene and really all of the scenes when Belle and the beast are getting to know each other!
