Hey there! Today I’m going to share the results of the blog survey I ran last week.
Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to fill out the survey. I really appreciate your feedback, and I was really moved to tears by some of the comments you shared 😘.
It’s clear to me from the survey that you want me to get back to my roots and share more training updates.
It’s been difficult for me to do this lately since my training has been all over the place. I’ve come to realize what I need is to put a BIG race on the calendar to help me focus. So that’s what I did!
I registered for the runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon: Two Course Challenge this November. I’ll run a 10K on Saturday and a half marathon on Sunday. Training will begin on July 5th!
Until then I’ve decided to set my sights on the Heroes in Recovery 6K being held here in Fort Lauderdale on June 3rd. I’ve never run a 6K before so it will be an automatic PR, but more than that it will give me something to shape my training updates around.
I also see that many of you are interested in mental health updates and weight loss/nutrition updates. I’m still seeing my psychologist once a month, and I also am working with a registered dietitian.
I’m a pretty open book but those kind of posts are still often tough for me to write about. I want to write about them because I know it’s helpful for others so I will try to be more diligent about getting them out on a more frequent basis.
When it comes to what you don’t want to see, I hear you LOUD AND CLEAR: you are not interested in makeup!
I’ll be honest I’m pretty interested in makeup so you’re going to still see some mention of that from time to time. I’ll just try to include makeup stuff in posts where I also talk about training :).
When it comes to vlogs there were mixed results. Many of you said you prefer for me to not upload videos because you don’t have time to watch them, but those of you who do watch them love them and even left me suggestions for future videos.
I may start posting videos on Sundays instead of during the week, that way they don’t interfere with M-F content but are still available for those that like them.
Speaking of things people like, Adam has been really enjoying disc golf these last few months. He mostly plays with his dad on Saturday mornings but hasn’t been able to play in a couple of weeks. He’s been dying to get in some practice so I went out to the park with him just to toss the disc around.
(omg I have a tattoo now!)
I wasn’t expecting to be very good at it but after a few throws I was able to generally get the disc where I wanted it to be. I’m not sure this is the right sport for me but it was fun to do with Adam. Plus I just like going to the park, although it always makes me wish I had a dog.
After I blogged about having a tender spot on my foot Megan asked if I thought it was PF. It honestly hadn’t even crossed my mind and I don’t want to even consider that. I’m pretty sure it’s just that my shoes were really worn down.
Since I didn’t get any running done over the weekend I did a lot of reading about running. Marathon Woman started off a little slow for me as it talks about Kathrine Switzer’s early childhood.
The childhood stories are included to set the stage for things to come; they show you how Kathrine developed the character that allowed her to run Boston when women weren’t supposed to.
Since I already know that Kathrine is a badass woman I didn’t really need all the childhood fluff. The book really picked up for me when she got to college and decided she was going to train for and run Boston. That’s about where I am right now.
