The Anticipation

Guess what day it is?

sdfsdfsdf

Just three more days to go until the A1A Half Marathon!

I took this snap last night for Kerry, Ali and anyone else reading who will be running this race! It’s almost here!

After the half I think we should all meet at the Hall of Fame sign for pics! It’s at the last stoplight before the finish line. I’ll see you there! 🙂

The weather last night was seriously perfect – 68 degrees, low humidity (45%) and a light breeze. I was cruising along and knocked out a 12:30 minute mile by accident!

My easy runs are usually closer to 13:30 so when I saw that I was like whoops but also kinda happy :). #GettingFaster

After the run just chillin and enjoying the night!

There were so many runners out last night and everyone was in such a great mood…. so many smiles and waves! I like nights like that!

I also like this guy:

Those whiskers!!

Before I sign off for the day, I have to give a HUGE thank you and shout out to the awesome ladies who donated to PAWS through my fundraising page within the last 48 hours! I’m looking forward to running the virtual 5K/10K with you!

asd

  • Irene P. who holds it down at the back of the pack with me! Thank you!
  • Cheryl from Why Mom Runs who is an ultrarunner with two ADORABLE fluffy little doggies! Thank you!
  • Jenny from Run Jenny Run whose entire wardrobe I want to steal! Thank you!
  • Staci from Hoosier Running Mom who kicked a smoking habit and now is a smokin’ runner, thank you!
  • Lizzy from Run Hare Run who is going to run a slam dunk marathon in LA soon, thank you!
  • Kim from Day with KT whose commitment to workouts and family always inspires me, thank you! (I wouldn’t have become friends with the stability ball without you!!!)
  • Kerry from Yoga on the Run who is about to run her first half marathon this weekend, thank you!

I really appreciate your support!

I hope you all have a great day! I’ve got a fartlek on the schedule for tonight, eeeek.

Why is speedwork so intimidating to think about?! It’s like getting a shot. The anticipation is so much more painful than the actual thing!

I would always make myself so nervous for my speed work and then I ended up kind of enjoying it! Well, once it was over at least. Hope you have another good run tonight and then get some rest for your half!

That is exactly how it goes for me! I get all nervous thinking about it, but once I start running that goes away instantly. The nervousness gets replaced with out-of-breath-ness! 😉

  2. Staci @ Hoosier Running Mom

Yay for an unexpected mile!!! I love speed work, I always feel so accomplished afterwards. I try not to think too much about it before hand though because I can get in my own head. I think I do this because I still see myself as a runner that is slower than what I am so the pace I need to go for speed work is faster than what I “think” I should be able to do. So strange! 🙂 Enjoy your run!!!

I totally get what you’re saying! Now that my fartlek paces are in the 9-10 min range I’ll all O_O when I think about running at that speed, but it really is doable once I stop thinking and just start running!

I hope it all works out! So far I’ve only met one blog friend and one Twitter-runner friend in real life!

  5. Kerry

Awe! Cecil is super adorable! I’m loving all the kitties on your blog.

I can’t wait to run the half on Sunday! It’s gonna be tons of fun and I hope I see you there! I feel so excited about the whole thing and it’s almost here. You’re gonna be awesome out there!

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

Thanks Kerry, you will be awesome out there too! Sunday is going to be a great day!

  6. Jess

You’re getting so speedy! That really does sound like the perfect running weather.

Also, Cecil is adorable. How old is he?

Cecil will be 7 and 1/2 later this month, but I think he looks and acts like a much younger cat. He still runs, jumps and plays a lot.

I hold a treat out and make him follow me while we run around the apartment. He has to do 4 laps to earn a treat, haha.

Hahaha, I love that meme! And that ad. And I am SO excited for today because I get to go home, yay! 🙂

I’m also excited for all of you running A1A. In case you didn’t know, Kerry is a friend in real life and the person I live with when I’m out in Indiana. I also follow Ali’s blog, so I love the thought of the three of you actually meeting up at a race! note to self: find other bloggers running LA

I didn’t know Kerry was your real life friend! That’s so cool! You should have come down with her for the race!!! 🙂

Ali’s blog is so awesome! She was the second run blogger I started following back in early 2013!

  8. Megan @ Meg Go Run

The anticipations IS worse than the actual thing, I totally agree! I mean, I get NERVOUS for speedwork. I haven’t done it in months though. 🙁

So excited for your half this weekend!!!!!

It’s so much worse! I might need to come up with a reward for myself to ensure I get out there tonight for what will be one of my hardest runs in a while… maybe ever! hhaa!

      1. Megan @ Meg Go Run

Hope it went well. I know it did. You get shit done. 🙂

I would love to not sweat during a run! Does that happen? Does it really get cold enough for that?! O_O Brrr!

  12. Ali @ Hit the Ground Running

YES I will SO meet you at the Hall of Fame sign!! Do you want to set up an approximate time to meet up?? Do you know what you’ll plan to wear yet? I hope the weather stays gorgeous this weekend!!

I am going to wear the orange-y top I’m wearing in my blog header and probably black capris or shorts! Probably capris since it’s going to be so cold, haha

Good luck in your half!! I know you will rock it. I just started doing speedwork and I really like it; it makes the run go by so fast and I feel like a badass.

Haha I know what you mean! Although I tend to feel more badass during the first mile and after I’m done with the last mile. During the middle miles I feel like I’m about to die 😉

  15. cheryl

It is amazing how fast speed work helps. The Speed workouts always seem so daunting to me, but I love how they go by quickly (Lately, I have been doing them on the treadmill).
    Good luck!

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

I’m the same way, it shocks me when I get to a certain part of my route way earlier than I normally do. Every single time I’m like, “really? I’m here already! ALRIGHT!!!” 😀

  16. Jennifer

You’re getting speedy, Kristina!! 🙂 Happy to support you!
