The best pre-run snack EVER.

I showered before bed the other night, which meant I woke up with uncontrollable hair in the morning.Β Oh, well.

Also badly in need of coffee!

No client meetings today, so I just didn’t care : )

(But I was reminded of why I should never go to bed with wet hair… and I did use some hairspray at lunch to fix it.)

After work I hopped on the treadmill to try for 3 to 4 easy miles, but I could still feel whatever it is that was bothering my knee on Saturday. I decided to cut the run short and went home to watch the HEAT WIN and advance to the semi-finals.

Pre-run I was complaining to Adam about how the Kind bars I bought over the weekend advertise themselves as being peanut butter + dark chocolate but that I couldn’t taste any PB at all. He wisely suggested I add my own, and I ended up with an AMAZING snack. This may be my pre-run snack for the rest of my life!

Speaking of indulgences, I have decided to cut out my Starbucks habit for the time being. I’m still trying to impress my financial advisor and have decided to see if I can survive without my afternoon Awake tea.

Instead I’m making my own tea at the office in this cute mug that my friend gave me when we met up last week:

I don’t think I’ve ever posted a picture on the blog where I’m wearing my glasses, but in grad school I used to wear them ALL THE TIME because my eyes were always tired (as was the rest of me, haha).

A few sips into this cup I was thinking it tasted awful and that I needed to go mainline some Starbucks, but it turns out the milk I used was spoiled. I hope I don’t die.

What day of the week do you do speedwork and/or how many days after your long run do you do speedwork?Β

– Just curious as to what the routines of other runners is like!

That is genius! Put peanut butter on anything = instant win. Yum πŸ™‚

I attempt to do speedwork on Tuesday, but usually end up swapping it for Wednesday. I do my long run one either Sat or Sun, so maybe my body is saying ‘hey, I need another day before THAT!’, haha… πŸ™‚

Go Heat Go! Now we rest before the next series.

Peanut Butter on any snack is a quick way to make it delicious. Wow cutting out Starbucks, going to be tough but you can do it.

I do speed work so randomly. I kinda remember I need to do it then plan it, but my long runs are usually Sunday.

Your messy hair looks great! (Unless the not great part is cut out of the picture!) I used to do long runs on Saturdays and speed on Tuesdays. I can’t wait until my knee can handle this and I can go back to it!

I do long runs Sundays or Mondays, Speed work Wednesdays usually….But I do flip things around a lot usually working around the long run (weather).

Peanut butter on granola bars, yum!

Make sure you roll out your legs–quads too. I think that will help.

Such a good idea to add peanut butter to those granola bars! I actually love those ones – but that might be because I’m actually not a huge fan of peanut “flavored” things (peanut butter granola, cookies, protein bars). And great job on working hard to save money! Starbucks can be soooo expensive – I’m sure your next homemade cup of tea will be great once the milk is fresh! πŸ™‚

genius! mr. dawn always has great solutions like that too. and whenever he suggests it, i always think, duh, why didn’t i think of that? pure genius.

right now i’m doing my speed work on Thursdays and long run on Sundays. but that’s just what my plan says to do…i’m blindly following my plan πŸ™‚

I almost always sleep on my hair wet. It gets really wavy when I do, and it’s easy to “style”. If I blow it dry, I need to do it the night before so it “flattens” out a bit, because if I wear it straight the day I washed it, it gets super giant. Like, 80s giant lol.

I’ve never had PB on Kind bars before but that sounds yummy! I usually like PB or almond butter on English muffin!

Good luck cutting out Starbucks! It can be very pricey! Trust me, I’m from Seattle and we have one on every block so they are hard to avoid! lol

Peanut butter does make things taste a lot yummier! Your hair looks cute! I usually do speed work 2 to 3 days after a long run.
