The Biggest Dilemma

Every Monday morning when my alarm goes off at 5am I contemplate the world’s biggest dilemma:

The struggle to find my true identity is real.Β Yesterday I did manage to pull myself together and go to the office :).

The best part of the day was definitely coming home to share some cantaloup with Adam.Β I crave cantaloup so much during the spring and summer. As a kid I would eat it with my breakfast, lunch and dinner while lounging by my grandparent’s pool. Such good summer memories!

I’d gorge on cantaloup and grapes, and then my grandparents and I would play Monopoly, Rummy or Racko until myΒ parents came to pick me up. Those were the days! Now I’m the one coming home after a long day of work, ugh! πŸ˜€

After my cantaloup snack I headed upstairs for a quick upper body lifting session. We just got a new bench for the gym and I was excited to use it.

I’m not entirely sure how the other one broke but I’m kind of glad it did because it was old and this one is much more comfortable!

I just did a quick and easy workout of:

– Chest press 5 x 7 @ 30lbs
– Shoulder press 5 x 7 @ 30lbs
– Bent over rows 5 x 7 @ 25lbs
– Single arm swing 3 x 15 @ 15lbs
– Bicep curls 3 x 10 @ 10lbs
– Plank 3 x 1 minute
– Jasyoga Run Your Core video

Nothing really to write home about except I have a blog so I will write about it anyway :).

Can you see my tattoo peeking out in the pic above? I can’t believe it’s over a week old now! It’s healing really nicely, but it can get pretty itchy at times because it’s scabbing over (sorry, tmi). I’ll be glad when the healing phase is over!

Anyway, whenΒ Adam and I first decided to create a home gym I was really excited for it. I still really love the convenience of having a home gym but I miss having access to cardio equipment.

Running outside isΒ my preference, but on cross training days I used to always do some time on the stationary bike or the elliptical. I know I don’tΒ need to do either of those two things, but they do feel nice when my legs are tired but I still want to get them moving.

Since the gym and my office share a room we don’t have the space for cardio equipment so I’ll just have to live without it.Β Maybe I’ll start taking walks on the days that I do cross training so that I feel like I’m getting a little cardio in.

Hmm…

Do you do any cardio on your XT days?Β

    I used to either run outside of just lift until we got a bike. Its nice to get in a little movement on days I don’t run. But going for walks is a good idea!

    I have that same dilemma all the time except being a dog mom πŸ™‚

    Do you guys have a Planet Fitness in FL? Their memberships are super cheap (I think $10-20 per month) so it may be worth it if you want to have the option of changing things up at home?

    I have the same fight for about 30 seconds before I get up!! at the very least, I want to call off that day… but I always get up. I give myself incentives to get up…

    Where do I sign up to be a stay-at-home dog mom? That would be the best job ever. πŸ™‚

    We used to live in an apartment complex that had a small gym and I used the treadmill all the time. I wouldn’t have guessed I’d like having it so much, but when we moved out I really missed it. I still have the university gym that I can go to, but nothing beats a short walk down the hall to a treadmill. πŸ™‚ Usually I cycle on cross training days because I have a trainer at home that I can put my bike on–much smaller (and cheaper–as long as you already have a bike) than a treadmill.

    I used to do a lot of cardio on my XT days. Right now, I’m not doing XT whatsoever because I’ve been dedicating myself exclusively to running.

    Our basement finishing project is moving along nicely now, but we are still in the midst of drywall mess everywhere. Within the next month we should have carpeting and the walls painted and everything back to normal. I LOVE having a treadmill. I thought it was a ton of money when we bought it but we’ve had it for so long now, it was definitely worth the price.

    I want to see the scabs. Is that gross? It probably is. I am so gross!

    How do you get your shoulders so strong? I can only to 20-22.5lb for shoulder press. I have not been able to up it in YEARS. Now, one problem may be I never do shoulders FIRST. I do push ups or pull ups first and we all know those do use our shoulders too. I like how my shoulders look but I would like to get stronger.

    We have a spin bike and it doesn’t take up much room at all and it was pretty inexpensive- a little less than $300. Maybe that is an option? It has wheels to be wheeled around.

    Also, I would be a stay at home cat mom if Paul made enough money and could work. I know people that are SO MOTIVATED to like go get their doctorate and I am over here just *fine* with having my masters and being in my forever job at the elem. school… Summers off, yo.
