The Most Expensive Things I Own!

If we’re friends on Instagram (@KristinaRunning) then you already know these guys have been officially retired:

Saying goodbye to an old pair of running shoes is always made easier when the new pair arrives! Ali suggested a couple of weeks ago that maybe I am in need of a different pair of shoes since I’m constantly dealing with hip issues. I got fitted for the Brooks Adrenalines about 2 or 2.5 years ago (?) now. It’s definitely been a while.

The other day Janae posted about the new Brooks Shoe Finder and I decided to give it a try. You perform a few simple activities and then answer some questions. At the end the Brooks Shoe Finder tells you which shoe is a good fit for you.

The shoe finder suggested that I purchase the Brooks Glycerin, which is funny because last month when I was talking with Kerry she suggested that maybe I should move to the Glycerin. Kerry, I think you have a bright future in shoe sales if you ever want to go that route, haha!

My shiny new Glycerins just arrived … and they are beautiful!

(^ Just so pretty!!!!)

The Glycerins are honestly the softest, most comfortable shoes I have ever had the pleasure to wear. I could sleep in them! The material they made from feels like heaven? It’s so much softer and lighter than the rigid material that Adrenalines are made from. The cushioning on the soles feels very similar to the Adrenalines which is nice because the shoes feel familiar but better.

At the end of December I bought a really pretty pair of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 16s.

I haven’t completely decided what I’m going to do with them yet, but I think I’m going to regulate them to gym shoes (and errand running shoes). I can’t just let them collect dust in the closest because running shoes are the most expensive things I own! haha

Speaking of luxuries, a couple of weeks ago I blogged about trying a new meal service. Adam and I are both now using Fuel Meals. The food is DELICIOUS! (This is not sponsored… I wish! haha)

Adam was skeptical until he saw my first week of food arrive – then he signed up too. All of the food is made fresh and then shipped overnight in dry ice – we get our deliveries about once a week.

Screen Shot 2016-03-01 at 9.22.47 PM

Each delivery contains 10 individual meals per person which comes out to about $130 per person or $260 in total (with shipping).

They currently offer signature meals, customizable meals (you choose a protein and two sides) and gluten free meals. Vegan and vegetarian meals are coming soon.

^ Definitely not sponsored, just sharing info in case anyone out there is as lazy as we are when it comes to cooking/meal prep :).

Okay, I’m heading out … gotta go to work to pay for all of these shoes and meals! 😀 Have a great day!

Have you changed shoe types over the years?
Do you meal prep on the weekends for the rest of the week?

I love that Brooks shoe finder! It always tells me I should wear the Pure flows so I think it works pretty well:) I would love to try a meal service! I have looked into Blue Apron but I am too picky about the meals and haven’t seen enough that I think I would like.

Blue Apron has such a pretty website that I want to sign up 🙂 They only send you the ingredients though, you still have to cook the meal which is why we haven’t signed up for that yet. Fuel Meals sends us fresh meals pre-made which is awesome!

  2. Lisa @ Lisa the Vegetarian

That shoe finder is pretty cool. I’m going to have to bookmark that for the next time I’m ready to get some new sneakers. Love the colors you picked out for your new shoes!

Thanks! I’ve never had dark shoes before, it’s a change, but I like it! I feel like the dark shoes will make me faster LOL!

  3. Megan @ Meg Go Run

    Those shoes ARE shiny!!! 🙂

That is so cool you get your meals delivered. Now you are going to have even MORE time in the evenings. You’ll be running in the mornings and you won’t have to make food. How are you going to fill your time??? May be vlogging??? 😉

Hahaha yes! I am working on things “behind the scenes” before I start filming videos again. I have a few things up my sleeve… but I should be making them again on a consistent basis soon! 🙂 I miss doing it – I like video editing!

        I miss it too 🙂

I didn’t know that I had a future as a running shoe saleswoman. I should add this to my resume! Those shoes are so shiny and pretty!!! I tried a pair of the glycerins on a while back and I liked them a lot. They were a little too big in the heal, but I really liked them otherwise. I used to run in the Ravenas, but after going to a local shoe store and getting refitted, they put me in a pair of neutral shoes and I have been wearing the Saucony Rides for a while now.

Those Glycerins are so shiny and awesome looking! I recently changed to Saucony Triumph and I loooooove them. I had been in Mizuno Wave Riders for a while. Occasionally I rotate in some old Brooks Pure somethings that I have (I honestly can never remember if they are the Flows or Connects) and some Asics Gel Cumulus. It’s hard to rotate though when I know I love the Triumphs to most! Congrats on finding new shoes, it’s the best feeling.

I love the shoe finder!! I have used it a couple times and love both pairs it has put me into. I hope that having the new shoes helps with your hip tightness!!!
If I didn’t have kids I would surely use a meal service! It just isn’t something I can financially justify with teen boys!!

Oh my gosh, no way! I can’t imagine the cost of using a meal service with two growing boys! I feel anxious just thinking about it and I’m childless!

  7. Running schlub

Shoe buying is so hard. Once we find a pair we fall in love with its hard to change. I blogged weeks ago about my swapping of shoes 5 times because they just didn’t feel right. Uhg it worries me just thinking about when I need to do that again lol

Hahah yes shoe anxiety is REAL! Making a change is hard but worth it when you slip into shoes that make you feel like Cinderella! Perfect fit! You get the prince!

Or maybe that’s not the ideal situation for you! haha 😀

  8. Karen

Fuel meals look pretty awesome 🙂 Yep, I am lazy lol checking it out!
I hope you love the Glycerin’s. I have tried them before and enjoyed them. I actually have run pretty happy in many different models of Brooks. The shoe finder says I need the Launch… I have never tried them.

  9. Ali @ Hit the Ground Running

Oh yay, I’m glad you’re in a new pair of shoes!! I hope they work out. They’re gorgeous! They make me think of the rainbow swirls you see on puddles of gasoline on asphalt, which sounds weird but is pretty, you know?!

  10. Kristen @ Glitter and Dust

I LOVE the Glycerin, Kristina. They have been my go to shoe for the past three years (I switched from the Adrenaline). As you know, I just purchased the Hoka One to switch things up and add even more cushion to the rotation. It was hard to go out of my Brooks comfort zone. 🙂 I hope you really like the Glycerin!

  11. Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola

OOOOoooohhh I love your new shoes!! I just got re-fitted for a new pair of shoes and I ended up with the Brooks Transcends. They better be good because they were more expensive! lol. I have also been a Brooks Adrenaliner for a really long time (10 years I think?) so it was hard for me to change. The transcends are supposed to give me the same support with more cushion. We shall see. Post some updates with how you like your new kicks!
