There’s a First Time for Everything!

Today I did the unthinkable and actually got up before work to go running! First time EVER. Literally. (I like to sleep in a lot). It was just an easy 4-miler but I am so proud of myself for getting out of bed early enough to do it.

I have plans tonight with my grad school BFFs. We’re celebrating because one of the group is going off to a big work gig in NYC and the other is heading to Colorado to start a PhD program!

I knew if I didn’t get up early I would end up skipping the run and I did enough of that last week! My total mileage last week was only 21 miles… oops. I blame it on vacation and that awful airport experience!

My breakfast after this unusual morning run? The best and juiciest watermelon on the planet. Thank you summer for producing this gift from the gods.

Don’t even get me started on cantaloup and how much it tastes like candy!

Cecil was confused by my early rising today. This is where he sits and watches intently for me to come home from my run.

Just kidding. Pretty sure he only sits here because the laptop is warm to sit on.

It’s a good thing he’s the cutest cat I’ve ever laid eyes on or I would have to give him a stern lecture on why he shouldn’t sit on my laptop punching a bunch of random keys with his little paws.

The laptop will be beeping and buzzing like crazy as he stomps on keys and he pretends like he doesn’t hear anything! He’s a ridiculous cat but I love him!

Are you eating a lot of watermelon this summer too? 

-I hate watermelon seeds!!! But I love watermelon : )

Favorite summer snack as a kid?

– I really liked those long ice pops that come in the plastic wrapper… the ones you buy in the liquid form and then have to freeze. Know what I’m talking about? Yum!

      Cecil once put my laptop into this funky mode where all of the colors were inverted. It was awful until Adam figured out how to turn it back to normal 🙂

    Don’t you feel so accomplished after a morning run?! I always feel on top of the world like I can do anything and then the runner’s high wears off and I’m exhausted and need a nap haha. Luckily there is coffee so that I don’t fall asleep in class or at work. And omgggg I was obsessed and still am with those popsicles! So good! The best part is the end with all the melted juice!!

      I didn’t love the morning run at all. I definitely needed a nap! haha

    Wow congrats on the early morning run, takes a lot of dedication. Hey 21 miles is no joke, that is still a pretty good week of running. Ah watermelon is delicious especially on a hot summer day.

    Favorite summer snack, you can’t go wrong with otter pops, I still have those now even though they are suppose to be for the kids lol.

      Otter Pops! Adam is obsessed with them but they stopped carrying them at our grocery store! I may need you to send me a care package full of them for his birthday this year lol

      I disliked every single minute of it! haha

      I used to force myself to get up early to run on the weekends because “that’s what runners do” but my life has vastly improved since I started doing all my runs in the evening! I’m just not a morning person AT ALL.

      I have literally never heard of putting marshmallow on top of a snowball!

      I used to suck all of the sugar/juice out of snowballs and throw the ice away 😀
