There’s Nothing Like a Night Run at the Beach

HAPPY FRIDAY! Last night I ran 3.5 miles on my favorite beach loop. My legs were feeling a little bit tight for the first mile, but eventually I settled into an easy rhythm.

For me, there’s just nothing like a night run at the beach. All the stress of this week just melted away … and my hip didn’t give me any problems. YAY!

The week before my half I didn’t run much because my right hip was so tight. Miraculously the morning of the race my hip felt perfectly normal. Then when I ran on the treadmill on Wednesday my hip started tightening up again. Last night it was back to normal. I think my body is telling me that it doesn’t want to run on the treadmill anymore!

This weekend I have big plans. Aside from following along Transgrancanaria 125K and rooting for my favorite runners, I’ll be using my fancy new camera to take pictures of the Spring 2014 Collection for Lilypad Candles (my soy candle shop).

I’ve been playing with my DSLR camera every night (the above pic was taken with my iPhone though). I think I know just enough now to take some decent pictures : )

Other than that I am just going to sit back and relax. The weather has been really warm so I am thinking about spending all day Sunday lounging by the pool. Might as well take advantage of living in Florida, right? I should probably go to the beach instead… but the beach is for running not for lounging in my book!

Any exciting weekend plans?

Do you get up early on the weekends, or do you sleep in really late like me?

I’m still so jealous that your beach has a sidewalk/boardwalk to run on. My beach sucks as far as that goes. It’s either sand-running or no running when it comes to the beach here.

This weekend I have a wedding to attend of two of my oldest college friends…fun fact, I dated the groom before I met Matt, and met Matt THROUGH the groom. They were their fraternity’s Prez and VP at the time. 🙂

I hope you have a great time!! That’s too funny about the groom!!

When I first met Adam my college dormmate liked him and I told her to go for it. When Adam and I started dating she wrote a passive aggressive Livejournal update about it saying he only liked me because I laughed at his bad jokes (which I think are quite good! I’m still laughing 9 years later!) hah!

Do you own a store for your candles or do you sell online? I went through months of hip pain and had to take steroids to get the inflammation under control. Doing a lot of extra hip stretches and band work really helped. It seems running is always presenting some new challenge right! When I started my knees would hurt, then they got stronger and my hip started and now (knocking on wood) my hip is a lot better and now that I have been working on speed a little more I feel a new pull in hamstrings lol.
I love sleep! It’s usually my mission to sleep in really late at least one weekend day because I have to be at work at 7:00 a.m. every day and I am just not a morning gal. Have a great weekend 🙂

Yes, exactly! When I first started running it was my knees/IT band and now it’s my right hip. Your story gives me hope that at some point my hip will be strong and then I can move on to my hamstrings, hah.

      I sell my candles online — http://www.lilypadcandles.com 🙂

Ah you are so lucky you get to run on the beach daily! My husband went to Tampa this past weekend and he loooooved it. He wants us to take a trip there. Have you been there? I know you live in FL and for some reason I think you live on the Gulf Coast but I don’t know if I made that up or not.

I wish i were in a climate that I could be outside right now! PS, i checked out Ragnar, we might have to wait until next year. With my wedding i’m going to be crazy busy, but since the moment you mentioned it i’ve been excited!!

I generally love to sleep in, but every now and then (like today), I unexpectedly wake up early and I kind of enjoy it. Love seeing pics of beaches and palm trees – I can’t wait for summer!
