When I was cleaning out my closet a couple of weekends ago I came across some photos from my senior year of high school (and freshman year of college). Do you remember when you had to wait to see your photos? How did we live like that?!
There are SO many photos that I am way too embarrassed to share… like the time my tall blonde friend made me dress as the Nicole Richie to her Paris Hilton for a Halloween party. But there were some less embarrassing moments I can share :).
It’s hard to believe but it’s been over TWELVE years since my senior prom in April 2004.
My best friend, B, came over to my house to get ready with me. (sidenote: B is coming to visit in a couple of weeks… expect her to show up in a vlog! We’ve been best friends since 2001!)
Living in tiny Inverness, FL there weren’t a lot of places to shop for prom dresses. I had ordered my DREAM DRESS last minute from nordstrom.com and it arrived just a couple of days before prom. And it was way too big.
I ended up at JC Penny right before prom sorting through the picked over dresses looking for anything wearable. I ended up with what can only be described as a cheap wedding dress. I didn’t love it but in hindsight it wasn’t as terrible as I thought it was!
The day after prom a few friends and I headed to Orlando for competition. We were part of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and we had business to take care of!
I think I look seven feet tall because my pants and my jacket are obviously both too big/long for me. I thought I looked super cool and professional though.
Here’s B at the hotel we stayed at for the competition – what a nerd! 🙂
It was so weird to look through all the pics and not see any selfies! The word selfie wasn’t even invented yet when these pictures were taken!
The prom pictures led into graduation pictures which turned into freshman year of college pics!
^ Adam (white shirt) and I aren’t standing next to each other because we weren’t yet officially dating!!!!!!
We really liked each other though. I think this was the first night he called me “baby” and as an already strong feminist I replied “don’t call me that, I’m not a baby.” For a long time he called me Honey instead. Now he calls me Baby, but I call him baby too so that we’re equal ;).
And the rest is history!
What did your prom dress look like?
Do you remember your class song? Mine was Young by Kenny Chesney
