Throwback Thursday: High School & College Pics!

When I was cleaning out my closet a couple of weekends ago I came across some photos from my senior year of high school (and freshman year of college). Do you remember when you had to wait to see your photos? How did we live like that?!

There are SO many photos that I am way too embarrassed to share… like the time my tall blonde friend made me dress as the Nicole Richie to her Paris Hilton for a Halloween party. But there were some less embarrassing moments I can share :).

It’s hard to believe but it’s been over TWELVE years since my senior prom in April 2004.

My best friend, B, came over to my house to get ready with me. (sidenote: B is coming to visit in a couple of weeks… expect her to show up in a vlog! We’ve been best friends since 2001!)

Living in tiny Inverness, FL there weren’t a lot of places to shop for prom dresses. I had ordered my DREAM DRESS last minute from and it arrived just a couple of days before prom. And it was way too big.

I ended up at JC Penny right before prom sorting through the picked over dresses looking for anything wearable. I ended up with what can only be described as a cheap wedding dress. I didn’t love it but in hindsight it wasn’t as terrible as I thought it was!

The day after prom a few friends and I headed to Orlando for competition. We were part of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and we had business to take care of!

I think I look seven feet tall because my pants and my jacket are obviously both too big/long for me. I thought I looked super cool and professional though.

Here’s B at the hotel we stayed at for the competition – what a nerd! 🙂

It was so weird to look through all the pics and not see any selfies! The word selfie wasn’t even invented yet when these pictures were taken!

The prom pictures led into graduation pictures which turned into freshman year of college pics!

^ Adam (white shirt) and I aren’t standing next to each other because we weren’t yet officially dating!!!!!!

We really liked each other though. I think this was the first night he called me “baby” and as an already strong feminist I replied “don’t call me that, I’m not a baby.” For a long time he called me Honey instead. Now he calls me Baby, but I call him baby too so that we’re equal ;).

And the rest is history!

What did your prom dress look like?
Do you remember your class song? Mine was Young by Kenny Chesney

The worst part about waiting for photos to be developed was getting them back and realizing that half of them didn’t turn out the way you expected.

SO TRUE! So many pics with eyes closed, blurry, etc. Technology has definitely improved this aspect of photography!

Haha awesome, old pics are always a great activity. You shouldn’t be embarrased, all those moments, both good and bad, helped shape you into the person you are today.

I didn’t have a dress for prom 🙂 but I think I had a pretty standard tux. Oh to the past, good times lol

Hahaha! Awww isn’t it so crazy to think about PROM? That was such a big deal at the time and now it’s a distant memory.

I was thinking about you this morning driving to work because I listened to Sage’s latest vlog about WS100!

I love how much detail he remembers from his races. Over 100 miles and over 15 hours of running and he still remembers so much. Definitely not me lol

My prom dress was pink, which is actually surprising because I hated pink in high school. It’s still not my favorite, but back then, I felt like it was so annoying that all girls’ things had to be pink. I love looking back at pictures from that time–we all look like babies! ha.

It’s so true! I was flipping through the pictures thinking, “this is what I looked like?” haha!

The prom dress I wanted to wear was pink. Or maybe it was blue. You know, at the time the dress thing mattered to me so much and now I can’t even remember what it looked like!

I have 2 rolls of film I have never had developed and honestly I am scared too. I don’t know what time frame they are from which makes me want too though. Might have pics of my kiddos! Might not even develop since it is so old. Or it could just be dumb high school/college stuff.
That suit…hot stuff! I remember having things like that and really thinking it worked…but of course I also thought I was cool when I was 8 wearing hammer pants! 😛

Oh no, you HAVE to get them developed! I’m sure at least one of the pics will give you a good laugh!

Adam’s curly Justin Timberlake hair is giving me life.

I loved getting photos developed back in the told days, but the worst was when you knew you had a good photo on a roll but it came out all funky from the lighting or something. No do-overs in the days before digital!

My sister had those pajamas B is wearing 🙂

Wow I think every single high school in America had a prom theme that included the word “stars”! Do I see stars on the side of your dress? It actually wasn’t a bad dress at all, and for 2004, that is saying something! Your friend B looks like a lot of fun! OMG ADAM LOOKS LIKE JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE IN THAT PICTURE!!!! Also, I am going to go look for photos to share in a blog post similar to this. You have inspired me.

My prom dress my junior year was black and just straight down. I got it at Express for like $18. It wasn’t a real prom dress. For my senior prom, I got a back long poofy skirt (which I still have for some reason even though it does NOT fit me around the waist!) paired with a sparkly black tank. The tank still fits and I still have that as well. Wow, that may be one of the oldest pieces of clothing I have!

Awe!! These pics are so cute! I remember being so excited when I would pick up pictures from walgreens and then looking through to find that they are blurry and just horrible. Cameras have seriously improved and I’m quite happy about it.

Its so crazy to think about having to get photos developed! I took TONS of pictures in high school and college, and its fun to look through them. One day I want to upload them all so they are store electronically. It was fun seeing photos of you from high school/college!

It is so fun to look back at old pics!! Sometimes, I can’t even remember what I am looking at lol because I am older than dirt you know…
I believe Lets Go Crazy by Prince was mine lol
