Turning Up the HEAT!

YOU: “Hey Kristina, it’s Monday. Time to go to work!”

ME: Sorry…

Maybe I can go to work tomorrow, but today my cat needs me to stay home and read him books. Probably Harry Pawter. ??? Ah, I’ll try to make less cringe worthy dad jokes in the future!

This past weekend went by in a blur! Saturday I woke up pretty early but lazed around for way too long. Adam and I had plans with our parents in the evening, so I put on my game face and got to the gym for a run!

You’re probably thinking, “the treadmill AGAIN?” I planned to do all of my runs outdoors this weekend, but then I remembered there was a music festival going on at the beach. I read in the paper (well the online version anyway) that traffic was a nightmare so I spent another weekend with the treadmill.

I also got in my upper body lifting session, which is always fun. Except for pull-ups.

Every week when I do pull-ups I think of Megan and how she is such a pro at them. I want to be more like her!

Sunday included more treadmill running, and then Adam and I were off to the American Airlines Arena for the first Miami HEAT playoff game of the season!

We splurged on some really good tickets which were totally worth it because we ended the night with a 31 point win!!! Holy Moly! It was so much fun to be part of the super hyped crowd last night!

After a disappointing football season, it’s nice to sit back and enjoy a playoff series that actually includes my team! I don’t know how far we’ll get into the playoffs this year, but last night’s game has me feeling incredibly optimistic that we’ll make it to the next round (and beyond!!!).

I hope you had a great weekend! If you’re a basketball or hockey fan, I hope you’re enjoying the playoffs as much as I am!

Who else will be streaming the Boston Marathon today at work?
Have you run Boston or is it on your bucket list of races to do?

What’s the #1 race on your bucket list right now?

This weekend went by way too fast! I hope to run Boston some day. I am going to be stuck in a training all day today so won’t be able to follow the race. Hopefully I will have breaks and can check in on it because I have an athlete I coach running it!

I know that you will run Boston someday! Looking forward to cheering you on!

How exciting for your athlete! Hope you’ll be able to share a little bit about his/her story on your blog!

I wish I could stream Boston at work. I’ll have to settle for getting updates on Heather and Allison on my phone, and I’ll watch what’s left of the race when I get home today!

No way to work it into today’s lesson? There must be some angle! haha

I’m not running Boston but am volunteering on the medical team this year. I was at the 5K on Saturday and we got front row seats to all the elites as their warm up and tents were right next to our medical area. It was really cool! My IT band has flared up lately so I haven’t ran in a few weeks. Hoping it starts to improve soon! Glad you had a great time at the game. Looks like you had awesome seats too 🙂

Hope you are having a great day volunteering! How cool that you got to hang out so close to the elites!

I hope that IT band clears up for you quickly!

I wish I could stream it but Paul will DVR it for me. 🙂 I am tracking Heather, Allison, and my cousin. I am pretty sure they are all in different ways so I think my phone is going to be beeping off the HOOK all day long. Sorry students. 🙂

YOU ARE LIKE ME. Just DO the pull ups. That’s all. You will get stronger and better at them. No one got WORSE at pull ups by doing pull ups. 🙂 Just every time you do a pull up, know that you are one pull up better at pull ups. If it makes you feel better, I feel like puking when I do them. It’s not like they feel GOOD.

I want to rub Cecil’s belly! I hope I get to meet him someday. He will be like, “Yes, another person who treats me like the prince I am.”

Hahah so true that I can’t possible get any worse at pull ups. I am making progress but not fast enough! I just want to be able to do an unassisted pull up right now!

You may rub Cecil’s belly but at your own risk. There is nothing he hates more than when someone touches his belly. Sometimes I sneak in light belly rubs when he’s sleeping, haha!

I know like 68284 people running Boston and I have the app set up to follow them. I probably won’t stream the race because honestly, it’s just not as exciting without all our top Americans running this year and I really should get a lot of shtuff done at work today, hehe.

I have to admit, I have sort of lukewarm feelings about getting a BQ. I kind of want to qualify just because I know it’s possible for me and really, who wouldnt love to run Boston? But, I don’t know, it also won’t bother me if I never qualify/run it. It’d be cool but I’m definitely not one of those runners whose biggest motivation to lace up every day is qualifying for the Boston Marathon. For some reason I just never got bit by that bug.

  6. April 18, 2016 / 10:47 am

I am watching the marathon right now lol My speed doesn’t qualify me even if was 90 lol oh well…
Those darn pull ups I still can’t do them! There is a girl at my gym who uses the band like Megan and I always think about her too.
    Cecil has the life 🙂

  7. April 18, 2016 / 11:31 am

Sounds like it was a fun weekend! I’m streaming the race, but like Hanna said with it being an Olympic year it just isn’t quite the same.

I’d like to someday qualify for and run Boston, but right now I am happy focusing on shorter distances.

  8. April 18, 2016 / 11:54 pm

    Too funny! Harry Pawter.

I took the day off of work so I could watch the Marathon on TV. LOL! It was a preplanned day so I wasn’t playing hooky. 🙂

Boston IS my bucket list race and I plan to get there in the next four years. I have some serious work to do to get there though.

BTW: I hate pull ups. I can’t even do ONE and I do a ton of upper body strength training. My friend told me to Google “kipping” pull ups. Someday I might try them.

  9. April 20, 2016 / 6:44 pm

I watched Boston and am dreaming of hopefully crossing the finish line next year. I wish I could have been there this year because the weather looked really nice! Oh, someday. 🙂

You are not alone in the pull-up department. I can’t remember that last time I was able to do a pull-up… junior high? Megan isn’t human.
