That about sums it up.

Yesterday in my weekly rundown I wrote that I was planning to do an upper body strength session, but that I had not done it yet. I’m happy to report that I got it in (after taking a nice long nap in the afternoon)!

I was pretty groggy from sleeping way too long, but I ended up doing:

  • 5 one minute planks with generous rest in between
  • 5 assisted pull-ups with a generous assist
  • 5 x 5 chest press with 25lb dumbbells
  • 5 x 5 shoulder press with 20lb dumbbells
  • 3 x 5 bent over rows with a 30lb dumbbell

You know that’s true!

After the gym I decided to grill up some burgers. We have these really nice grills literally 10 feet outside of our apartment door and have never used them!

I’ve never grilled anything before in my life, but it went really well!

Actually, I’m addicted and am going to start grilling EVERYTHING!!!!! Chicken, burgers, vegetables, pineapple… anything that can fit on the grill!

This summer I am going to become a grill master!

PS: Things at work for me have been a little hectic lately. The company I work for is going through a merger and I’ve been promoted to a director position. Everything that is going on is pretty exciting, but some days my brain is just totally fried when I get home. I may miss a day or two or three of blogging over the next month, but I am sure things will calm down and get back to normal! 🙂

What is your favorite thing to grill? Any sites you go to for the best grill recipes?
Do you go to the gym on the weekends, or do you mostly go during the week?
– my gym is always empty on the weekends!

    I was doing so well with strength training up until about 2 weeks ago (we moved and it’s been pretty busy since). I really need to get back into it.

    Congratulations on your promotion! We have a charcoal grill and grill almost every day in the summer. It’s nice because we eat different things but can easily cook & eat together. My favorite thing to grill is a head of romaine lettuce for a grilled veggie salad!

    Grilled sweet potatoes are the bomb. There is also this really awesome Rachel Ray recipe for lamb kebabs with couscous and a Greek yogurt sauce that is amazing! I have made it so many times but not I use chicken or shrimp and adjust the recipe accordingly. I love warm weather for grilling 🙂

    The color of the shirt you wore to work looks great on you!
    My favorite thing to grill is pineapple. Core it and cut it in quarters and put it back on the “skin” It looks like 4 pineapple canoes…Then melt a couple TBS of butter, add in some RUM, whole cloves, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Brush it one the pineapple, grill it on the skin (It takes a while 40 minutes or so…). Heavenly. It is great served with chicken or as a dessert (w vanilla ice cream) or just plain. It is ALWAYS a hit.
    Homemade pizza on the grill is awesome too.
    We grill ALL THE TIME!

    I don’t go to the gym on weekends, only during the week. Weekends are all about that running!

    Grilling is okay in moderation, but once summer is here people want to do it EVERY SINGLE DAY and I just get kinda sick of it. I do love steaks from the grill, and burgers. I want to try salmon on the grill but I’m afraid I’d ruin it or something, lol.

    I’ve been kind of out of touch lately – still reading, not commenting much – with all the moving-related stuff! Bah!

    I love grilling! I’m going to miss ours – no grilling allowed at our new place in CA – but I would definitely recommend getting an instant-read thermometer so you get the exact doneness you want.

      Great idea to get a thermometer. I like most of my food super well done (aka burnt) so I generally know when it’s the right temp for me since it’s crispy looking, haha!

    For some reason I choose not to grill – it is the one thing I just don’t want to do with cooking so I let that be Chris’ domain. (I have put together grills so there is that:) One summer Chris was deployed for the entire summer so I bought an indoor grill – better than nothing.

      The little area outside our door and the gym were exactly what sold us on the place. We were trying to choose between this place and another one (that’s closer to the beach), but we couldn’t beat these amenities!

    I also love grilling. It was the first thing we purchased when we closed on the house. What a great investment! We grill almost every weekend. It makes having people over so much easier too, because it just seems easier to scale up grill recipes than “real” cooking. Plus, everyone likes sitting outside by the grill and enjoying the LA weather. I’m sure it’s the same for you in S. Florida.

      Yes, sitting around outside was really nice, but I need to buy bug spray. I got like 20 bug bites… and of course Adam got none. The bugs just love me! 🙁
