Hey there! Happy Monday. I hope that you had a great weekend. I think mine was PERFECT! I got in a couple of great runs and the Dolphins won their game on Sunday in blowout fashion!
I’ve decided to start doing Weekend Snapshot videos. Basically, each weekend I’ll edit together a collection of short videos that show the best parts of my weekend. There won’t be any talking, just clips and good music. Here’s the first Weekend Snapshot!
I’m really happy with how my run/walking went both over the weekend and during last week overall. Some of the tightness in my Piriformis and hips seems to be going away and I’m not really having any calf or foot issues to speak of.
Saturday I did a six mile run/walk that went well… except for when I decided I wanted to run down to my old neighborhood without bringing a water bottle. Originally I was planning to just do 2 miles loops around my car down at the beach, but then I got the bright idea to run over to my old stomping grounds.
In my still sleepy brain it didn’t occur to me that would mean running about five miles without any water (since I left my bottle in the car). BAD IDEA when it’s still so warm out! Luckily around mile 4 I was able to stop at a gas station and buy some Gatorade. I felt A LOT better after that and my run/walk pace picked up a bit for a strong finish.

Since we moved in January I haven’t been running bridges much. Running through my old neighborhood meant I got to run a bridge twice and I was really happy to see that I was still able to make it up and over without a struggle. That’s really important because all of the half marathons I’ll run this fall/winter will go over at least one bridge and I want to feel strong when tackling them.
I know it sounds rude, but when I can power up a bridge and everyone else is slowed to a walk I get a little boost of confidence and energy.
After my run on Saturday I didn’t really do much. Adam is still recovering from a sinus infection and wanted to just hang out at home which was fine by me. The last few weekends have been spent on-the-go and while they were fun I welcomed a break from it all.
Sunday we got up early to go tailgate and cheer on our Dolphins! It was an AMAZING game. We went into halftime with a score of 41 to 0!!!! Adam kept saying that he couldn’t imagine a better birthday gift :).
After the game I was totally pumped up so I threw on my running clothes and headed back down to the beach for a short run/walk. The second mile was a little faster than I intended it to be, but it also felt really good. I didn’t feel any calf tightness or tingling so I think it’s okay that I pushed the pace a little bit. Since I was doing a run/walk I was frequently checking in with myself, and I would have stopped if anything felt wrong.

Overall, such a great weekend! I am looking forward to tonight as well because we’re going out for Adam’s bday!
