Weekend Update!

Hey there! Hope you had a good weekend and enjoyed the Superbowl if you like football. I’m writing this post on Sunday @ 3pm because we’re going out to watch the game tonight. My mom is a Eagles fan and Adam loves Tom Brady… I’m just sitting in the neutral zone for this one :).

I do have a new vlog from Saturday to share with you today though:

I basically spent all day working on planting some flowers in our patio area.

First I spent about 90 minutes in the garden center cross referencing flowers I liked against the ASCPA non-toxic list, and then it took me a couple hours to get all of the flowers planted because I had to dig up a bunch of roots from old plants that had really ingrained themselves into the ground.

Cecil never goes outdoors, but we have a stray kitten that has been coming to visit lately so finding pretty but non-toxic flowers was important to me.

I ended up going with a mix of Petunias, Sunpatiens, Snapdragons and I can’t remember the name of the yellow flowers. I wanted to get sunflowers but the garden center didn’t have any, and I thought these made for any okay substitute.

I tried to start a small herb and vegetable garden last year and it didn’t work out too well. From what I gather the plants I chose are not made for our always hot and humid climate. If I can keep my flowers alive I’ll have to give vegetables another try!

As for the workout front, I took a rest break this weekend. Although I think pulling roots from the ground was actually a pretty decent upper body workout!

^ Old pic.

I also haven’t started running again because a part of mywound is still not healed. Basically this cut ended up healing from the bottom up and there is a tiny area where the final layer of skin has not grown in yet. I am being extra cautious about not doing anything to make the area swell up since I just want that last bit to grow in so I can be done with this whole saga.

I haven’t written about this because I feel like a broken record that just keeps saying “not yet but soon.” I see my surgeon again on Wednesday and will get his opinion. If he says it’s healed enough to run I’ll go for a run that night. Maybe by Wednesday the final bit will have been filled in anyway *fingers crossed*.

I feel like I’ve been saying this for months, but it really will be any day now that I can run. I’m ready.

I hope you had a fun weekend, got in a good run, ate some good food and spent time with friends and fam!

How was your weekend?
Who were you rooting for in the Superbowl?
Did you enjoy the commercials and halftime show?
Anyone have any suggestions for other bright, colorful flowers I should buy?

Wow! Those are some beautiful flowers. I’ve tried planting a few veggies before but I can never keep them alive long enough to get real food. I had a few plants in the house, but Elly and Sydney ate them. Haha!

I had a good weekend and got some good running and hiking in. I really hope you are able to run on Wednesday! You’re so close!

Beautiful flowers! I hope you can get the OK to run again! How amazing would that be?!? I am 4 weeks into fracturing my foot and hoping I can get back to walking in another 2 weeks. I love my other sports and thankful I get to do them but I miss my third sport to rotate into the mix!

Your flowers are beautiful! I always have to call my mom for help with my garden. Actually I think this will be the first year I feel comfortable buying all the plants myself and planting them. Normally she comes along to help out. Although it is a fun mother daughter day. I watched Pink and JT but not the game. I didn’t like Pink’s performance but I know she was sick. I’m not into JT but his show was good for what it was supposed to be, if that makes sense? I bet you loved it! What did you think of his outfit? I am sorry part of your wound is still healing. That is so crazy!

I hope you are able to run soon!! It must be really frustrating to have to wait so long!

It seems so odd to me that you are planting flowers already! The groundhog says 6 more weeks of winter for us, and as long as there is snow on the ground, I don’t mind. It’s pretty! That is very cool that you thought of something that was cat-safe for your flowers. I would have never thought of that!
Do you happen to have a problem with skin healing up? Just wondering if that was a condition you were experiencing. That’s a thing, right? Hope you get some great news this week!

LOVED the flowers you picked up for your garden. I saw part of it on your Insta Story. Unfortunately, I don’t have many suggestions because I know nothing about gardening. I’m looking to plant some flowers in my front yard and I’ll have to watch youtube tutorials to learn how to do it from scratch. Literally.

And don’t worry about your running and sounding like a “broken record.” You are recovering from surgery and that can take time. Hopefully you’re surgeon clears you up to run soon!

My weekend was great. But I have to admit that I did not rest at all. My in-laws were here so we were out and about. On top of that, I was cooking and doing so major cleaning around the house. It felt really good though.

We wanted The Eagles to win. So we were pretty happy with the outcome:)

Hope you enjoy your day Kristina!!

I have no suggestions for flowers because my thumb is about as black as it can be. I was cheering for the Eagles just because they were the underdogs. And because I kinda don’t like Tom Brady. A lot. lol.

The pop of color is nice! Do I hear the possibility of a new family member in your future???
At this point you have invested so much time in healing, I would not jeopardize it!
I didn’t really watch the game, I just listened to Kenny yell lol I was not loving JT initially but by the Prince tribute i was hooked 🙂
