Weekly Training Recap: FINALLY!

Happy Tuesday aka the day in which we travel back in time and recap the previous week! 🙂

Kristina’s Week at a Glance

Training for: Nothing specific, just building/maintaining a base.

Days running: 5

Days lifting: 1

Days jasyoga: 7

Miles this week: 25

I finally got in a full five days of running after many weeks of only 3-4 days. It sure is easy to run 5+ days a week when you’re on Christmas break, and a lot harder to do when you’re submerged in work during Q1!

I wish I had gotten in 2 lifting days as planned, but I did get in 7 days of jasyoga and some of the yoga workouts feel like strength training (especially the core workouts).

This run was really enjoyable. The weather had cooled down a little bit and my calves loosened up pretty quickly.


2 mile warm up, 6 long hill repeats, 1 mile cool down plus the Jasyoga Run Your Core video.

This workout kicked my butt and I was totally exhausted after. I was in good spirits though as this was the day I took Cecil to the vet for the little cough he developed and learned that he’s okay! I was supposed to do a 2 mile cool down, but I shortened it to 1 mile because I was dead.

Some days my coach puts specific yoga videos into my plan but other days she leaves it up to me to workout whatever areas are stiff. On those days I will always choose the hip and calf videos as those are my two consistent problem areas.

Because my calves have been so bothersome lately I’ve been doing the calf reset video every day. I cannot tell you how good my calves feel immediately after doing this video! If I could I would do it once an hour every single hour of the day!

Because we had plans to head out to Miami on Saturday night I had to get in my run way too early in the afternoon. This run was HOT. I can usually handle 81 degrees at sunrise/sunset but 81 degrees with the sun blasting down is a whole different game. Thank goodness I only had three miles on the schedule!


8 miles alternating easy/hard every 2 miles.

Okay so this one was difficult for me. I have a hard time regulating my pace every two miles so this ended up being more like alternating easy/hard every one mile. I’m going to try and get better at this if I end up doing this style of long run again (which I’m sure I will at some point)!

It was so hot out. I’m honestly over summer. Oh wait, summer hasn’t even began? Eeek.

    Im so glad the calf reset video is helping you! Isn’t it interesting how much it can help to do dynamic stretches vs just static stretches? I love that all the videos are so quick- no excuse not to squeeze them in at least a few times a week!

      Me too! I think the longest video I’ve done so far is still less than 15 minutes which means there is almost always time to do 2 videos or some other workout at the same time!

    Great job this week, Kristina! I seriously dont know how you all deal with such heat this time of year.

    I have the most energy at the beginning of the week and then fizzle out toward the end. I look forward to the weekend but it’s more like dragging myself to a marathon finish line: I’m so spent and I just want to get there! Thursdays are the days I’m most likely to skip workouts.

      I am the same way! I look forward to the weekend but getting up and motivated on Thursdays is so hard. Friday is easier because you can see the finish line!

    I don’t know how you run in that heat, and it’s only February! It was 65 here on Saturday and I thought to myself, “It’s a bit warm for running outside.” Haha I guess it’s partly what you’re used to.

      Hahahah 65 sounds so nice!

      I agree, it’s definitely a matter of what you’re used to because sometimes I feel cold when it’s 75 degrees out and I know that’s just totally ridiculous! 😀

    Lately I would say I get more tired as the drags on. Which is a scary thought because it is only Tuesday and I’m already exhausted.

      I know what you mean! I used to feel the most tired on Thursdays but lately I’ve felt the slump start on Wednesdays :/

    Awesome training week girlie!

    I’ve GOT to get back into running… I’ve taken a break (and switched to crossfit + yoga + rowing)… but I’m starting to miss it 🙁

      That’s so lucky! I definitely feel energetic on Fridays with the weekend in sight, but Wed/Thurs kill me!

    Yeah Jasyoga! I have been sticking to the glute reset video and the post run reset. They do feel so good afterwards!! I need to venture out and try some of the core videos. I avoid the hamstring ones because I think stretching them out would make my situation feel worse.
    I don’t think I really have a better or worse day when I workout based on the day of the week since I run in the morning. I pretty much just chalk the “bad runs” up to fate and “that’s the way it goes sometimes”!

      I love the jasyoga videos because they make me slow down and really focus on how one side of my body feels after a stretch when the other side is still tight! It’s incredible! Let me know what you think about the core videos!

    Nice week, Kristina! I feel the same way about “summer”. I’m already mourning the cool mornings and evenings. Goodbye, three weeks of “winter”!
