What I Bought at the Grocery Store for This Week

Hi there! If you’re reading this from the USA I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend with friends and family in honor of those who have died for our country.

I only ran a couple of miles over the long weekend (here’s why) but still managed to have an enjoyable weekend, haha :).

Adam and I bought a grill on Sunday but had some issues with it, and didn’t get it working until Monday. More on that in my latest vlog!

Also in the vlog is what I purchased at Publix (grocery store) for this upcoming week!

I haven’t been to Publix in a while and it seems like they are following the Trader Joe’s trend of having a lot of pre-chopped veggies which I love. It seriously makes cooking at night a breeze when everything is already prepped for you!

The last time I posted my Trader Joe’s haul video I received some concern that my shop was suuuuper healthy (and possibly unbalanced). There is a reason for that — I’m currently working with an RD and her services are expensive, so I am following her advice very closely! I don’t want to throw good money down the drain!

That means the things I bring into the house are pretty healthy, but that doesn’t mean that’s all I eat. Adam and I eat out probably one or two times per week on average, and I also eat lunch out with coworkers a couple times per week.

I try to make healthy-ish choices when I’m eating out but I also give myself the freedom to enjoy myself. I would say my diet is 80-ish percent healthy and 20-ish percent whatever I feel like!

    We make chicken on the grill (to bring for lunch during the week) just about every weekend. If it ever gets warmer I hope we will start using our grill more. We got our deck put on at the end of last summer, so this is the first year that the grill is easily accessible.

      Yeah! Good idea! I am going to make grilled chicken this weekend to bring to work.

    Haha glad to hear I’m not the only one concerned that your diet was “too healthy” 🙂 I watched this last night as soon as you uploaded it because my computer gave me a notification! I can’t believe your grill didn’t work. How frustrating. I don’t think that’s a normal “live and learn” type of thing. Why the hell would they sell you a propane tank that wasn’t full, and how would you know it wasn’t full???

      Hahah no it wasn’t just you. I’m sure I would have thought the same thing too if I was watching it as someone else’s video!!

      IDK apparently everyone just knows these rules about propane!

    Girl I am all for treats but don’t ever let someone tell you your diet is too healthy. Healthy is good and if someone wants to eat that way…we should let them. You are doing awesome. The 80/20 plan is perfect. Keep it up!!

      Thanks Susan! 🙂 I have definitely feel like I’ve found a good balance. My RD wishes I would stop getting cheese on things when I’m eating out… I’m trying! If I get a salad I won’t get cheese but if I’m getting a grilled chicken dish I’m like YOLO and get a slice of cheese!

        I have YOLO things in my life. I just make sure not to have them every day! If there is no YOLO then it gets really rigid and what kind of living is that?!? I think you have excellent balance.

    I’m all about the pre-chopped veggies these days. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
    We have a grill sitting in the box in the garage. We’re afraid to try to put it together 😉

      Hahahha well I will be honest here, it took Adam about 2 hours to assemble the grill. It didn’t look particularly hard to do, but there were a lot of parts! Does B have an SUV or a truck? Maybe you could take the box back and buy a pre-assembled one? If we could have fit a pre-assembled one in my CR-V we definitely would have done that!

    gulp, I better never post my grocery shopping then! no actually I do have pretty healthy stuff, but nothing too interesting. I love simple things like pasta, chicken and salad. The one thing we buy every week is a huge bag of salad (lettuce & romaine) at Sam’s Club because it’s so cheap. I make salads every day for work with grilled chicken.
