When I Win the Powerball I Will…

Around the office my coworkers and I have been dreaming about what we would do if we won the Powerball. The only thing we all agreed on is that we would keep it hush until we met with a financial advisor and lawyer.

One of my coworkers would take the money and buy a nice house in San Fran. We figured this house alone would take up about half of his winnings, haha. Another coworker said he would give $100 million to his brother and then give his mom a black AMEX card. He said he wouldn’t give her cash because she would just donate it all to the Catholic church ;).

Create a Financial Safety Net

I would definitely take $100 million and make sure it went into safe investments. I’m hopeful that I would never need to touch that $100 million and in my will I would donate it to various charitable organizations.

Save All the Cats

I would immediately donate so much money to animal nonprofits. You don’t have to tell me that there are plenty of humans on this earth that need the money. Adam reminds me of that every single time I make a donation to a charity for animals. I would donate plenty of money to organizations that provide assistance for humans, but I would also try to save all the cats.

Buy My Dream House on A1A in Fort Lauderdale

I love living in Fort Lauderdale, so much so that I wouldn’t even think about moving. I would just immediately build my dream house right on the beach. I would have big glass windows so that I could look out at the water any time I want.

Have Personal Aid Stations Setup Every Weekend

I would also hire people to create small aid stations along my normal long-run route every weekend. These small aid stations would be available for any of the local runners (and also the homeless). I know this is a bit crazy but let’s not forget I would be rich enough to make crazy decisions like this!

Travel the World on a Private Jet

Immediately after I get my affairs in order, and while my dream house is being built, I would buy a private jet and travel the entire world.

I would take a private jet for comfort, but also so that Cecil could have his own seat and litterbox on the plane.

Hire a Cat Nanny

Speaking of litterboxes I would never clean one again. I would hire someone who is responsible for scooping Cecil’s litter each time he goes. I think he would like that …and once again I would be rich enough to do crazy things. I would pay this person well and offer benefits too because anyone helping me take care of Cecil is a VIP.

Buy an Apartment in London and Paris

I love these two cities so much and I would definitely want a permanent residence in each. I would rent the spaces out through AirBNB at reasonable prices so that other people could benefit!

I would donate the money made through AirBNB to the local homeless community.

Start a Nonprofit (or Two)

After I got settled into my new life I am sure I would get the itch to do marketing again. I would start a nonprofit and be involved in the daily marketing activities. I am not entirely sure what kind of nonprofit it would be since there are already wonderful organizations I could just donate to when it comes to things like sex trafficking, access to clean water and human & animal rights.

Go to the Superbowl!

I would definitely live out all of my sports fantasies by buying the best seats for the Superbowl, sitting courtside at all of the big Miami Heat games and being in the front row for every NXT Takeover show.

Create a Free Race Weekend for the Run Blog Community & Fly Everyone In

Finally, I would create a free race weekend in someplace cool (we’d have to vote on the location) and then I’d fly everyone in!

I would make all race pictures free and I would have a ton of photographers on the course :).

What’s one thing you would do if you won the Powerball?

I would love to go to your free race weekend! I would also invest alot of money if I won, but I think I would also buy a house somewhere warm. I don’t think I would do too many “big” things but it would be so nice to do whatever I wanted without concern over cost!:)

  2. January 12, 2016 / 7:17 am

I think I, too, would donate a lot to charity. I would hire someone to paint my house… 🙂

  3. January 12, 2016 / 7:24 am

Excellent list! I would amend the first one to trying to keeping it on the DL indefinitely. I agree with the aid stations. I would actually love to have the financial resources to create special themed aid stations for races. Love party-event planning and running with a theme – having unlimited resources to create awe-inspiring aid stations for a half or full would be stellar.

Okay, I am totally stealing this blog idea if you don’t mind!!! I had something scheduled for tomorrow, but this would be way more fun. 🙂

I too would not tell a SOUL until I had a lawyer and financial advisor. But I would totally call in sick for work hahaha! Okay, that’s the boring. The fun:

    1. Give enough money to my parents and siblings, as well as Paul’s parents and siblings so that they would never have to worry about money ever again!

    2. Buy houses in: San Francisco and Colorado. Since we wouldn’t live there all the time (We love our house!), we would open it up to friends and family to stay in for free.

The rest, you will have to read tomorrow!

  5. January 12, 2016 / 8:52 am

I love to dream about how I’d spend the money, even though I know I will never win. I’d pay off the debt of all of my friends and families. Good bye student loans and mortgages! I would retire at the old age of 30 and focus on volunteer work. You know, after a few years of traveling the world.

  6. January 12, 2016 / 12:38 pm

Haha! I love this post! I agree, I would also make sure all the cats find homes. Elly would also get some pretty awesome star treatment. I think Frank and I would travel the world (like dirtbags, since we love doing that so much), and we’d donate a bunch of it to environmental and animal rescue charities.

  7. January 12, 2016 / 3:13 pm

Ahh, it was so nice to have manned aid stations on our long runs when I was training for the LA marathon with the LA Running Club. That is definitely a must-do! Or at least I’d install awesome water fountains that work and aren’t gross!

  8. January 12, 2016 / 3:14 pm

Haha love this. Donating to pets would be huge, totally you on that one. Personal aid stations lol that is hilarious. I would totally start a nonprofit as well. Super bowl really?? We both know Miami will never be there lol.

Omg free race would be epic. Looking forward to that invite ?

  9. January 12, 2016 / 4:35 pm

I love this blog post idea! I think I’d splurge on travel, kitty treats (no more scooping for me!) and some sweet ass triathlon stuff! And probably a personal chef too. Healthy eating is so much easier if someone’s cooking for you!

  10. January 12, 2016 / 4:37 pm

Excellent! I would totally go to your race event! Also, if travel is included, I’ll run your personal aid stations hehe 🙂 It is fun to chat about what we would do if we won. Once all the logistics of lawyer/financial advisor is set I’d pay off my school loans, purchase a home – nothing to lavish, sort out what I would give to my parents/siblings, travel, and put a remainder in investments. Would be fun to be an angel investor. Ideally I would like to live off the interest from one of the investments and make sure the others are squared away. Not going to be one of those “I won the lottery and made poor decisions” stories.

  11. January 13, 2016 / 9:04 am

LOVE this! And the cat nanny is such a great, and funny, idea! I better get my idea ready since I’m really the one who will be winning this lottery (LOL!). I think the majority of my excess cash would be spent traveling. There are so many places in the world I would like to see. The idea of a private jet scares me a little though – I’ll just fly first class!
My husband always said that if we won the lottery he would put a couple drinking fountains along the trail we run, since it’s 9 miles between water stops there. But from the stories he tells me, the environment would benefit from a few outhouses along the way too. Sorry, TMI!

  12. January 13, 2016 / 11:11 am

I would take the annuity. I would invest some and live comfortably as well as paying off various things. I think it’s so interesting to read what people would do if they won and I love your mentality. I haven’t bought a ticket and who really knows if I will LOL.

  13. January 13, 2016 / 6:55 pm

Travel the world!!!!!!!… after I pay off my student loans 😉

  14. January 13, 2016 / 7:10 pm

OMG AID STATIONS FOR LONG RUNS. That is freaking brilliant. I also love the idea of sponsoring a huge free race – I’d do it in New Zealand or somewhere super amazing!

    So many fun, good ideas!

  15. January 13, 2016 / 8:21 pm

Haha, the setting up your own personal aid stations each week made me laugh. What creativity. 🙂 I would give some to family, go to the Super Bowl and take all my friends, travel the world, and donate a lot to local charities. I would also give some to my church. Oh, and pay off my student loans!

One more thing… I would buy Ironman and make it more affordable for everyone.

Absolutely Travel the World on a Private Jet , ha..ha i’m coming
